Interesting article. Any news is good news, and good news is especially good news. I made that up but you can quote me.

I'm a die hard Patek fanatic, but I will say, amongst the general population of the world, Rolex is far more coveted.

Most non-watch nerds don't even know about Patek. Everyone knows about Rolex, even people who don't care about watches.

Only if they care enough to.

I'd wager most "average" Rolex buyers don't ever really find out enough to care about Patek and AP. That's been my experience, anyway.

And since Rolex sells >10x the number of watches per year compared to Patek, this isn't really a surprise to me. They just have vastly more reach, and compared to their competitors who have just as much reach, they're at the top in terms of brand power.

I’m so happy this is the case. There’s too much spill over from Rolex to Patek as it is. I hope Patek stays relatively low key at least until I get my 5711.

Haha, agreed. I will admit, I think it's Ok for Rolex to have that status, and for Patek to *not*. It's more in line with their business goals.
