Crown and tube replacement

Can you replace a crown and tube without stripping the Watch completely to its component parts .

Yes that is possible.

But if it's pressure tested with the Rolex fathometre afterwards you will need to take the movement/dial out. If it's a dry pressure tester then it's not needed. Should there be a small leak then there is no risk of moisture damaging the insides.

I have a 1665 from late 60s and the tube and crown have been replaced by a more recent set at RSC. I would like it back to original spec . I think from reading 700 or 701 set is needed without the three spots on the winding crown

The concern is removing the dial and chipping round the minute markers .

I don't mind if it isn't 100% waterproof it won't be getting wet
