Icon5 Which one is better?

Mont blanc or Cartier pens?

I'm asking you guys, because my father have a Cartier pen and recently lent me his pen and i've noticed that the pen writes very smooth and feel confortable on the hand. I have a Mont blanc Starwalker and at first sight the quality of both pens looks pretty much the same.

Any comments?

Where I buy mine and my wife's MB the owners really like their Cartier pens. They have had them for many years and were almost reluctant to sell me the MBs. I think they wanted me to buy Cartier pens instead. When they remodelled the store the Cartier display went up right away. Like I said. They seem to prefer Cartier.

I saw some very lushious Cartier pens at my pen store. But I think I will add at least one 'must have' Mont Blanc in my collection first. Cheers!

I've noticed that some merchants are more interested in promote Cartier products over other brands because of the commissions and gifts, for sales achievements. I had the same experience when i bought my Rolex, the sales man insisted on me to buy a Cartier watch instead of the Rolex that i finally ended buying. But in the sale process he told me that some of the watches he have had are thanks to Cartier thanks to his achievements in sales, and in the other hand Rolex don't gave them nothing for sales achievements. So in my opinion, this could be the same situation with the pens and pens dealers.

I will go against the grain here and say that Montblanc is primarily a pen company, they have many great ranges and I've always been impressed with their style and performance.

I don't really listen to what sales people tell me.

By the same token I've only owned 1 Cartier pen and found it to be fairly unremarkable. Cartier do make some very nice pens IMHO but there you go that's the way I see it.

Seeing as the most important thing on a fountain pen is it's nib I wonder who Cartier get to make theirs?

I have heard many good things about Cartier pens both from dealers and from individuals who are dyed in the wool pen collectors of all brands.
Must admit I would like to own a Cartier pen one day.

I am one who loves their products and for me they really do have a certain panache

Shoot me if you must, but, as far as ballpoint pens go, the differences between manufacturers are negligable at best in my opinion.

If the pens in question are fountain pens, then quality becomes a serious issue. In my experience with Montblanc pens (which is fair), their nibs are smooth and comfortable to write with and the pens themselves are light and comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

I have never held or used a Cartier pen so I couldn't comment on that, but my vote goes to Montblanc.

I've read that the company that owned Mont Blanc is also proprietor of Cartier. So i think that they (maybe) share the pens components.

What do you think? Have you heard that info?

When you are comparing Cartier and Montblanc it comes to preference. Both are good brands and in my experience Montblancs do appear to hold their resale value a little better and are easier to liquidate should you need to.

But the best thing you could do is write with both of them. You will know after you test drive the models you are interested in.
