Broken Vintage Rolex

New to this forum so please excuse if I am doing it all wrong. This vintage 18K white gold and diamond dress Rolex was in my father's estate. I don't want to keep it as it won't be worn and I don't want to pay to have it repaired. Is there a market for Vintage Rolex watches that need repair? Any advice as where to turn? Thank you in advance.

Yes there is a market for watches that don't run, but it is very limited as there are only two main groups of buyers:

1. Watchmakers/jewelers who can repair the watch for resale.
2. Individuals who want a specific model and the only one or best one available needs repairs.

The problem you will have is that a 1960s to 1970s style white gold dress watch is not fashionable at the moment and it is very unlikely that anybody is specifically searching out this model.

A watchmaker would have a problem in reselling this style of watch and so he would probably only be willing to pay scrap value for the gold and diamonds.

Apart from ebay and Craigslist you could try some vintage dealers and ask their opinions. If you are in Boston, MA you could go down Newbury Street and see if anybody was interested. European Watch Company at 232 Newbury Street might be able to give you some advice if nobody else is very helpful.
