I would recommend the classic 36mm size. It is just so comfortable and has perfect proportions. When I want to go bigger...that is what the sport models are for! This one is my favorite...

If that's the 36mm then I agree, it looks great. I also really like the little romans outside the stick markers.

I love the size of the DJII, but dont like how flat the bezel appears. Gonna have to go with the DJ on this one...

I love the 36mm size. It's the classic Rolex. I found the DJII, and the DDII, to be out of proportion; the bezel is just too large. Plus, I really wanted the jubilee band and the DDII did not offer it. The white dial is so classy too, I just had to add it to the small, but growing, collection.

I vote for the original DJ as well. I think the DJ is more elegant while the DJ II gives off a sportier more rugged look.

In the corporate arena I see many more men going with the larger dress watch. If you have a wrist that is 7.25 or larger, a DJII would look very nice on your wrist. I've seen some great DJII pics here of well it looks dressed casual.

I wish was in 40mm though. But given is 41 produced. I like it but on smooth Bezel. I would consider one if they make one. Which I am sure they will one day. Who knows maybe this year 8).

I think it would really depend on your wrist size which one is better for you. I really just cannot carry 41mm's. 38-39mm would have been best. So 36mm for me.

It depends on:
1- Age. The more refined (older) members prefer the traditional, two tone, and smaller DJ. The younger buyer seems to gravitate towards the larger and more modern DJII. 2- Size. A large watch may not look suitable on a petite person. 3- Price. DJII has been on the market for a short amount of time and the prices tend to be higher for now. 4- Personal preference. This is probably the most deciding factor. Some may like a model because they are used to it or it appeals to his or her aesthetic sense. 5- Comfort. This may fall under the #4 since most people men start out wearing a 36mm watch, they feel more comfortable with it. I hope this helps. |

OK
A lot of this has ot do with your wrist size. I have smaller (6.8 in) wrist. I have own a DJ (my first Rolex) and have owned a DJII. With the DJ II most anyone can wear it. If you have wrists under 7 in it is must sportier than dress. Id say 7 in or smaller DJ II for casual wear and DD 36 mm for dress. If you dress up often, have smaller wrists and can only have one I say 36 mm

I have small wrists, so I much prefer the DJ. If i had larger wrists, I would be in two minds.

I have always thought the DJ was a beautiful watch but it was never one I was considering...until the DJII came out. Honestly, I think the DJII with silver dial and blue Arabic numbers is stunning!
I have an Explorer (36mm) now and I love it. It is a subtle watch and it still sings to me after having it a few years. My next watch I want to have a little more presence. I am pretty well set on a GMT IIc but that DJII did make me question my decision. I do think the GMT IIc may be a little more versatile though - which is why I am probably going in that direction. |

You need to try both on and compare. I did this several times and ended up going with the DJII which I love.

I'm 6' 260lbs. And I AM older. (some other poster called it more refined :-)
My choice is the classic 36mm. BESIDES, you already have a bunch of larger mm watches, right? I think the Sub, Panerai, and such watches are exactly the size they should be. But 40mm in a DJ plus seems, in my view to be a fad, even though I know many here would disagree. Where are the 40MM PP's and VC's BTW? I also remember bell bottoms, and platform shoes. Plain leg Levis came back, maybe never really went away. Bell bottoms? Well, who knows |

I have several 36mm Datejusts and like the 36mm size. For me, that's about right for a cross between a sport and dress watch.
When I first heard the rumors of a new generation, I was REALLY hoping for a 39mm case. I've always felt a 39mm Datejust would be a perfect Rolex. I was surprised to see a 5mm case jump. But I also understand marketing (although not as well as Rolex does ) and larger watches are what's "in." I like the 41mm version, but not enough to buy one; yet.....

36mm get my vote.
In my opinion, Rolex really messed up on the 41mm size. They should have went with a 39mm case size, which would have been perfect. The bezel on the 41mm is just awful. They could have made it much nicer going with a 39mm case size. |

I have a 7.5" wrist, and still prefer the look of the 36mm...on me. The DJII doesn't look great on my wrist, but it looks stunning on other folks. I think it's a matter of trying them and seeing what you like. They're both great!

My only concern, issue, is the lack of micro-adjustments to the 'super' jubilee bracelet. I'm at the point that 2 links off is too loose and 1 link off is a tad snug. .. all depending on the time of year, season, heat etc etc.
I'm still in search of the 1.25 TT (18K) link, that I think, may fit me better, overall. Someone on the boards mentioned to put 'anti-allergic' pad on the back of the watch.. but that, imo, is 'eau-contrair' - to a Rolex. So.. Im dealing with the sizing issue...'weather' permitting...!?!?!
