Icon5 126234 Fluted motif VS Bright blue

Always looking for a dress watch. I locked my eyes with Datejust 36 with fluted with Jubilee. Now the dilemma is between a Bright blue Fluted motif and Bright blue.

I got the offer from my nice AD with Bright blue. But they both look nice. Any ideas? Much obliged.

I haven’t seen the textured dial in person so I really have no first hand experience.

That said, I think the textured dial is beautiful, but maybe a bit too busy with the jubilee and flutted bezel

I saw an exhibition model of the fluted motif dial and it's quite stunning; personally I would prefer it to be on a less busy bezel and bracelet, which is smooth/oyster, just as I would with the palm motif; but I understand if one likes the shinny effects of the whole watch, then going with motif/fluted/jubilee is the way to go.

I am having the same question. Best to see both in person to make a decision.

If it is a fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, I prefer the less busy (but beautiful) bright blue. Fluted bezel + fluted dial + jubilee is sensory overload. IMO the fluted motif dial is best on a plain bezel/oyster bracelet combo.

I love the fluted motif. That would be my pick

The combo there in is what I would choose, fluted bezel jubilee bracelet and blue motif dial stunning, not a fan of smooth bezel it scratches really easy so not for me, good luck.

Judging by the pictures provided, it's Bright blue Fluted motif for me.

I like the basic silver sunburst dial best, but if I had a choice of bright blue, I would pick the motif bright blue.

From photos, the bright blue. I think the motif would be better on a smooth/Oyster DJ.

I just bought the fluted, jubilee, blue 36. Plenty of flash and in my opinion adding the motif to this would result in too much going on.

I went to order the fluted blue dial last month and was told I can have it only if I order it with a diamond bezel.

Thank you guys, looks like most of you think the motif is a bit too busy. I will have a look at it tomorrow. I will post pics on my wrist in this thread. Please help me pick one.

I hope this would also help you with your pick. Cheers.

I’ve been debating the exact same two. Interested to see your photos on the wrist of the motif dial. It is a beautiful dial via photos and unique. But, like others, I wonder if it is too busy when combined with a jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel.

I stand corrected, The ad told me that the bright blue is mine if I want. The motif is only for me to see. What with that???... Besides, the motif is getting more favors.

For a "dress" watch I'd personally go with the more understated non-motif dial.

Waaaaay too much going on for me with the textured dial, Jubilee and fluted bezel.

Sometimes less is most definitely more. This is one such occasion IMO.

I wanted DJ to be my dress watch. Besides DJ (and, of course, CELLINI), does Rolex have any other watch more dressy?

I think you could be right! A bit of shame that AD didn't have fluted / motif / Jubilee to see.
