How does Longines compare to other luxury brands?
Hey guys. I have been looking at some Longines watches here in Paris, they are the official timekeeper of the French Open and as such have many booths set up around the grounds, and liking a few models. Never really heard of the brand before, I'll admit I'm a noob, and was wondering what others on the forums thought about the brand. How does Longines compare to other luxury brands? Are they up there with Breitling? If you had to say they were comparable to one brand, what would it be? All opinions are appreciated!

Similiar to Rado, Raymond Weil, Gucci, ... good quality watch, Swiss Made, sapphire crystals, ETA movements, part of Swatch group. Very beautiful, elegantly designed watches.
Hmmm, up with Breitling? Very debatable, though Breitling goes for the more sporty look and Longines goes more for the dressy look. Higher grade than Tissot/Swiss Army/Hamilton.

I think it is really a matter of opinion. Longines has really made a turn around in the last several years. When they were Longines- Wittenour they were pretty much a higher end swiss fashion watch. They were mostly quartz and did not really appeal to WIS folks.
They have a very long history in watchmaking and now they are putting out some really nice stuff. Yes they may not appeal to everyone, especailly fans of Breitling, Omega Rolex, ect but they are quality watches. And they are also a lot of bang for the buck.

I'm a fan of older Longines watches.

I like Longines, they are really making a comeback, IMO.

I always just say "Long Jeans" but I think the proper way would sound like "Loh Jhean".
