Rubber for summer...?

I was looking at picking up an Everest rubber strap for my Sub. I like the way they look...seems like a good summer strap. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with a rubber strap on a Rolex, but I have had one for my Panerai 88 for many years. I actually don't love it as a summer strap strangely. Great for the water, but I found it to be hot when wearing it under normal summer conditions and not just sitting by a pool/beach.

In hot and/or humid climates it gets uncomfortable for me. Prefer steel or for panerai, one of the natural materials.

I prefer the metal bracelets, I think rubber would "stick" in the summer.

I know mine felt that way.

I agree, the bracelet is much cooler than a rubber strap. My pam Submersible has a rubber strap and while great at the beach, it does wear much stickier than my Rolexes on bracelets.

Gotta agree with above comments on the downside of rubber. I wore a Seiko Diver with the rubber strap it came with for a couple of years in hot climates and was hot, sticky, made your wrist smell bad. Changed it to a Velcro strap, not as hot, smelled worse, though.

The metal bracelet is probably best, IMHO, though I do wear NATOs in the summer in the water. As I always thoroughly rinse all my gear in fresh water after getting out of sea, the smell isn't much Of a problem.

Want a different metal band? Try an Olongapo.

I have just put a Rubber B strap on my Sub 14060. I got the strap included in the purchase of another Rolex so I can't baulk at the price! It is extremely comfortable, non-sticky and really looks great. Advantage over the bracelet is of course no black metal sweat marks.

Fitting of the strap to the lugs is the killer feature.

Much nicer look than a NATO, which although I like and often use one, seems to make the watch stand too tall on the wrist. I do think a NATO would be cooler however when it is really hot (not much of an issue here...)

I own a number of rubber straps for my watches...not a fan if them in the summer..sweat too much which then makes the rubber funky and require frequent cleanings....steel or nylon for summer!

Rubber is tougher and holds the watch better for high activities. Not all rubber straps are equal and that makes a huge difference.

I'm personally thinking that I like NATO which works really well during the summer months and for swimming and all. Not to mention it provides added security of staying on the wrist even if one spring bar gives way.

I'm of this school of thought. I've tried rubber straps (Isofrane mainly), and although comfortable at first, they get really "sticky" and just don't feel right as the day goes on. NATOs are my preferred summer strap. They are just SO comfortable.

I have had the Everest rubber strap on a 16610 and it is very comfortable. The under side of the strap has "pockets" if you will, like a section that does not come in direct contact with your wrist so it does not collect that much sweat underneath. I also wear it a little on the loose side so that helps.

I've thought about picking up a rubber B a few times, but always go back to throwing on a simple NATO. Let us know what you end up doing

Op. If you have any questions we are a member on the forum. If you have any questions you can always PM me and I can help you. Also we will have blue version out soon - end of the month at the latest.

To answer the sweat question - the design of the strap has a built in air pocket so the strap touches your skin as little as possible. I have never heard any complain about that as issue since we designed it to ensure breath-ability.

You will also find rubber or nylon straps can be loosened if it's warm and your wrist size expands just enough to be uncomfortable in the heat.

Another vote for a Rubber B! Very comfortable in the summer, and gives my watch a sporty look.
