116610ln - Lume more green?

Hi guys, new poster here. I just purchased a preowned 116610ln sub c from DavidSW. The watch lume to me appears to be green. I was under the impression they were supposed to be blue. Am I just colorblind? I've seen pretty intense pics of Blue lume from other 116610ln owners.

As a Rolex newbie I'm paranoid I might have gotten something else than I paid for.

I've enclosed two pics to look at.

Maybe a picture that is a little more clear and not so zoomed in could help us more.

Well chromolight was first introduced on the DSSD around 2008/9 later on to the sub its more on the blue spectrum. But that would depend on that persons eyes the state of charge to the luminous paint and the darkness of the room some say its more blue green.

Let me show you guys the colour of the Superluminova on the bezel, baton markers and handsets of an Omega Speedmaster CK 2998 Blue Panda @MiCKey LE Baselworld 2016 after the lume was recharged in the middle of the night. On the OF, there was a general consensus that the monochromatic green lume Superluminova was the commonest (~75%) followed by the blue lume (~20-22%).The rarest and most valuable are the bicoloured Green-Blue lumes(~3-5%). To add to the confusion, some owners swore their lume was a concoction of both green & blue = Teal Colour ! I admit I do not have the official percentages of the lume variants in all 2998 timepieces but my guesstimate was only based on the CK 2998 LE photos posted on the OF by the owners. My theory is that Omega utilized 2 batch of paints from 2 different suppliers.
Now check out the lume(s)on this Rolex TT Sub116613LB that was posted on the Singapore Rolex forum in 2015 I believe Rolex was using both Superluminova and Chromalight lumes during the transitional phase

I haven't been here that long myself, but even I would safely say that lume has variables (whether it is charged by artificial or natural light, how a picture can be filtered versus how your eyes see it, etc.), but buying from David is more than likely not the variable.

interestingly as the night went on the color changed from greenish to a lighter blue. Will try again tonight and charge the lume from a diff light source to see if that does something diff.

Charge the lume from direct sunlight. Then go inside and into a closet or something. Should look much more blue than from a lamp or flashlight. My guess is that your lume is fine... it can definitely look a little green much of the time.

Lume is correct, in my opinion it was poor form to bring the sellers' integrity into this thread.

From my experience the lume color changes with brightness. Post an image of a freshly charged lume shot and it should look blue. Yours looks like it's been sitting for a while ; it looks dim.

I agree, but as a new Rolex owner I know how paranoid a new buyer can be based on all of the fakes out there. But again, I do agree with you.

It is acqua blue, i.e., greenish blue. When the lume intensity is strong, the blue hue is shown. However, the color may shift toward green if the lume intensity is weak.

Perhaps, it's me but your lume looks greenish to me.
Take more pics with better focus and upload them.
