Is this submariner good to go.... Please help... Thanks
Im recently fighting cancer and my family got me a new ceramic sub case they realized life is short and its my dream to have both ceramic and vintage... I also wanted to get a vintage looking pre ceramic sub with patina....
Well I found one a guy is selling... His a watchmaker but said he had this sent to Mayors/ rolex AD in july 2017 to have it serviced and comes with service papers and 2 year warranty from mayors/rolex... No box or anything that originally came when the sub was bought new... He said I can call and verify also... He said he will do $4000... I know nothing about subs like you guys... What you guys think and what should i look for? Serial number between lugs? bracelet serial number looks different? movement serial number? Or is this a franken sub? These are the pics he sent me so far... All I can tell he says its a 16800... 1986... you can see in the pic the lug and bracelet seems to have the correct numbers... he said the movement and everything is all original.... What you guys think? [/QUOTE] |

There’s no way RSC will service a Franken sub.

Franken sub? He said I can call them and verify it was done in May 2017... I'm confused what you mean they wouldn't work on a Franken sub if they did
Also looked between lugs 9 million serial... caseback 16800... movement calibre 3035... clasp code K... bracelet lug 553... bracelet 93150... looked at the dial i was told has to have the silver ring around the lumes... has the patina and bezel is aluminum... |

I wish you Godspeed as you go through your illness.
The watch is fair at $4k. But I'd just ask to open it and get something in writing in case there's a functional or provenance issue down the road. |

Pictures look good, all the numbers you provided are correct (the endlinks are actually 593 not 553), and $4k is a pretty attractive price in my opinion.

Hi
i am sorry your illness, and pray that you can beat it. The watch looks good, but I am confused on the "ceramic" part. Yours is a metal bezel, as it should be. A ceramic bezel would make it a "marriage" watch - not a Franken
