Why are the engravings completely missing on this sub?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/145653415799

Is this legit? Would the engravings on the case really be worn off on both sides?

I dont think that they are missing. The images are not covering the area and the angle with the fotobox light makes the magic. Ask the seller for better images.

It does happen if the bracelet and endlinks are lose. As above, in certain lights with loupe it may be slightly legible

That's one lazy listing and very bijou description !....I agree they will probably be there, but faint, on a post 69 non serif watch....

I’ve got an old Tudor sub which is very similar unfortunately these things do happen. As mentioned by Turo and Rootbeer7 they might be there but even with a loupe could be hard to see

Sometimes the numbers are intentionally removed for obvious reasons. I wouldn't assume the serial/reference numbers are just faint on the case. That looks very clean, in the photo anyway, but who knows.

Here's a 5512 I owned many moons ago, with serial and reference numbers that were partially removed by loose end links. This is what I'd expect to see, not super smooth metal between the lugs. (RSC was able to tell me full serial by tracing the movement serial number.)

I've asked the seller what is the serial # for the case.

With a description like that, expect surprises.

The dial looks legit to me. Does it look legit or not to anyone else?

Well it ended up going pretty cheap.. if you’re a gambler I guess it could pay off

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145653415799

A second gilt dial from the same seller with a similarly bad listing.

Didn't anyone just ask the seller if they were visible btw ? Surely they'd have responded. That is cheap .

They were also both subject to the EBay verification program so perhaps the buyer will prevail after all

YMMV but in my experience, people who are selling that cheap normally aren't in the business of answering questions. They only spend time selling watches lol. Keep your eyes out, another one will come across the web! Good luck.
