Congrats to you for your stay investment strategy! And, if you were at a million in 2009 after the market dropped 50% from 2007 then huge kudos to you! The market has risen 3x since then, so now you must be a baller.

No college but qualified as Chartered Accountant with ICAEW. Just purchased my first Rolex, the new Sea Dweller, after having a tag for number of years.

Left school at 15 and joined the army, no qualifications, I spent the rest of my working life in the forces. I retired at 58 and have a TTDJ, (which I gave to my wife) a Sub C and a couple of Grand Seiko's and Sinn's.

You don't need to have a University degree to have a Rolex. I went straight into work from school, worked hard and I've now got a couple of luxuries. Granted I'm a little late in owning one but that is only due to me recently catching the watch bug!
I've never had a job interview and no inheritance left me, just pure graft got me my collection.. BTW, I have a bluesy and a PO omega and soon to get a YM platinum, hopefully.. |

Six Years of Electrical Engineering and Solid State Physics, met requirements for Professional Engineer Electrical Engineering, went into business with the Chair of the Physics Department at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
Ended up not graduating but had enough formal education and experience to be called and work as an "Electrical Engineer". Most of my life I have worked with Automation and Robotics, both Entertainment Robotics and Industrial Robotics. Mark IV Red Sub and Ceramic Sub |

Bill Gates and others dropped out or never went to college and they can buy the entire Rolex company many times over if they wanted...This is a very snobbish thread.

It's snobby to discuss one's education? Should people not discuss or, God forbid, even celebrate their accomplishments in life, for fear of somehow offending those who might not have achieved those same accomplishments? Sounds awfully "snowflakish" to me. No one here has suggested that those with less formal education are in any way inferior or less successful. |

The OP was curious about where people attended school and what they studied so not sure how that is snobbish. It certainly isn't a judgment of those who did not attend college. He also didn't equate wealth or success purely to education. It's interesting to hear people's educational backgrounds as well as professions on a world wide forum. Not to mention experiences. Lots shared here over the years. Perhaps if you stick around you will understand and experience that for yourself.
