Rolex 1680 Box and paper - opinions
I found this 1680 red from a dealer. I prefer dials with creamy-yellow-orange tritium. Anyway this watch doesn't look bad. It is with box and paper. Indeed more photos are necessary for a complete evaluation (I may ask them to dealer later). the price is 25k. I think is good for a box and paper set.
Case looks fine, used and not restored. Tritium looks fine. What do you think? Thanks! |

Thanks for your opinion. Serial # is not indicated, I asked it, it's only written the year 1973.
Do you think the case is too worn off? Anyway I see most of the watches with restored cases that they all look like NOS... |

It’s very nice but to me the price seems a bit strong for the condition... but could be fair in other markets.
I’m not a fan of the NOS recut look either. Sent from my cracked, broken hand wound phone. IG @morning_tundra |

The lugs on the crown side look pretty small to me..... most that have been polished by la watches have the chamfered lugs and polished might look NOS, but are not NOS based on size. The lugs on the other side would be acceptable for me but on the crown side just too thin. On the top lug the springbar almost comes out of the hole

Agree. That’s what I was getting at with “price for condition”.

Maybe that is current market value, not sure, but man! $25,000 for a well worn sub 1680...crazy times. Cool watch though

If you like it is all that matters...right?
For me, I would keep shopping based on the case. Complete sets are a bonus and great to have, but, the watch should be nice too.

I noticed after this thread the small lugs near he crown. They are really small. I would skip on this.
Thanks for your advices. It's funny because in 2013 I was close to buy a super 1680 red in top condition, just case and service paper (from 70s-80s) price was 8500 Euro. I thought it was too expensive at that time. Now its value would be 3x. |

Price isn’t aligned w watch. I also have issue w overall condition of hands and dial vs case. You’d think a watch so clearly worn would have a more oxidized set of hands and dial.

Nobody has mentioned the dial damage, which for me would be more detrimental. Looks messy near 11 and 5...signs of touch-up repair.
