The ability to laugh at oneself and have a sense of humour is a key to balanced living.

Loving a guitar, a Rolex a train or whatever doesn't change a single thing.

I happen to like laughing a lot with a big fat Rolex on my wrist!

What the posters on the guitar forum don't seem to understand is that we share our Rolex photos and collections only with each other inside an enthusiast forum. We aren't out there anywhere else on the interwebs saying, "Hey, lookie what I got!" It's no different than any other hobbyist or enthusiast forum. We enjoy looking at a double-red Sea Dweller the same way a reef tank hobbyist enjoys seeing a rare coral posted, or a guitar enthusiast looking at photos of an old Martin.

I'm a Moderator on the internet's largest reef tank forum, and I find myself twitching reading the posts on the referenced guitar forum. My ban button would be over-heated.

Whilst, obviously, I think owning Rolex watch (es) can only be a good thing, I must say that I cringe every time someone posts a wrist shot with another big-ticket item in the background. It's usually a car steering wheel, and usually a BMW, Merc or Porsche. And the guy with the Amex card - I mean, really!

Yea... might need Steve to add posing with a Rolex next to your credit cards and/or large wads of cash spread out on a pool table to guns and politics on the banned list. Pics like that can only harm resale value lol.

Someone should link them to John Mayer's postings on VRF

Just stunning the lack of irony in spending a fortune on guitars but not understanding that we have a similar perverted passion for watches. I bet the Wedgwood collectors forum is laughing at the both of us

Made me giggle and feel sad that people can be so full of hate. Most surprising was that the majority were unable to express themselves without reverting to basis language and insults.

See James, the problem is, that the steering wheel on my Yugo clashes with my EXP II, otherwise I would post pics of that in the background.

One word for that guy jealous. I was watching u-tube videos today of guys who bought a rolex took it out of the box and enjoyed it described it etc.... Reminded me of when I bought mine. Then I scrolled down to see the comments. Really sad such jealous hatefull comments. It got me thinking if that is how these people feel about Rolex watches then why did they search it on u-tube and why did this guy post it in the other fourm????? I don't like hunting so I would never look it up on u-tube? Why waste my time? The fact these guys are searching it out screams to me that it is all about jealousy and nothing else.

I took the time to read all the posts on that other fourm. I found a few small minded and uneducated responses sterotyping and putting us all in one basket much the same as Adolf Hitler had done with the jews. Futher more one guy even said a guys wife just needed an apple? Suggesting she was a pig. I find this really upsetting. Another commented on her saying she was a real trophy wife? What some of these guys are talking about has nothing to do with watches but attacking the way people look and commenting like that on a guys wife is uncalled for.

If any of you pigs from that other fourm are trolling here I hope you had the chance to read my two posts about you.

Who cares what they think? Some of their comments made me laugh.
It is weird that the poster would repost our photos, but it's the same old Rolex bashing. I'm sure they have "post a photo with your axe" thread, but they're too dim to connect the dots.
Besides, this is a public forum, if you post an image there's no expectation of privacy. If your photo is there and it really bothers you, prove ownership and ask a mod to remove it. If its still linked to your Photobucket, etc acct, you can change it yourself.
Oh yeah,

One word comes to my mind while reading the thread

"Indecent"

You can argue that forum content is public domain, people are free to express to their opinion that kind of thing. In my view, how a person starts and conducts a conversion in a forum should be no different from a real conversation. The hater's thread is simply indecent.

Has their (guitar forum) admin been notified of the thread? They might be wise to remove it.

Must resist urge to post inappropriate things... ... ...
I'll say this, he's got some stones pissing on a bunch of people WAY out of his league considering his personal data is not protected.
Me, I'm a lover. We should tell Jan/Trendy he's Leo's best friend.
BTW he posted the same stuff on another anonymous forum. Odd dude with a serious inferiority complex.

Your avatar is a very good example of why the guitar forum thread exists in the first place.

Owning a BMW and a Datejust isn't exactly what I'd call provocative.

Why put the two together, on a watch forum, and use the pic as an avatar? IOW, what relevence does BMW ownership have here?

Because obviously he's proud of his car.

Should I remove my dog cause she's not a rolex pure breed?

I'm glad I don't have my old avatar up, people would accuse me of being an elitist. Or maybe just proud of the old football team.
I wonder what the Phoenix means?
