I’ve never understood why folks make comments like this. If you don’t like the thread then skip over it. My answer is because it’s fun to hear other people’s opinions.

Everyone is different with different tastes. Having said that, I surmise that most people who love the Daytona are wowed by the busyness aesthetic and how there’s more going on in the dial.
But, for me, that aesthetic gets tiring extremely quick and blends easily into the crowd.

Let me think...

Overrated means popular, so all popular Rolex models? I doubt anyone will say Cellini.

im not the biggest daytona fan especially in SS but its not overrated. Its a great watch. Plus they didn't ruin it with a date which they could have easily done, so for someone who likes it, which is a ton of people, its rated just right.

In a perfect world, where people only buy the pieces they love and don't give into external hype, no watch is overrated.

I’m not a fan of the trend for bigger watches and tbh I think most people looking better with the smaller size of the sub.

I'm going to say the opposite. Yes, the Daytona SS and stuff (only because of the crazy premiums).

But any PM watches for their price is overrated. Its costing usually 100-200% more than a SS version for something that is just the physical material difference being a precious metal. The design, functions, etc. is no difference.

Yes, value is in the metal. But if I'm buying value in a metal, I might as well buy a solid bar of gold for value at 99.9999999% purity.

Regardless of hype in resale prices, SS is still better value. PM as a general concept for a watch is overrated in my books. (Not saying I won't buy one, I totally would. Just the concept of it is).

I honestly think frustration about not being able to get one leads to calling a watch overrated.

The BLRO is no different this year

A lot of people would change their tune if their AD offered them one at retail

I've tried on and ultimately passed on the BLNR a couple times under retail and my opinion still stands.

That may pertain to some people but certainly not me...as I've outlined in detail precisely why I wouldn't want a Daytona.

I would say for me its the Smurf.

Dont get me wrong, I love that watch but If they released the exact same watch in stainless steel next year................then I would never think about owning the WG version.

Well if we all wanted the same thing, Rolex would have an easy time of it.

Daytona. It’s a nice watch but I think all the hype it gets makes it overrated

Daytona.

although its nice to look at...

-its not ez to read time instantly

-it wears small

-in order to use the chronograph function, u have to first unscrew the pushers

But looking at the gray-market prices, its obvious that DaytonaC is a tremendously popular reference (even considering the controlled supply)...
perhaps the demand is due to the fact that Daytona is now Rolex's #1 uni-sex model. (lol not really fact. just my opinion with absolutely zero data to back it up. lol)

Well apparently you did not read my comments
So my opinion is the hype created around the Daytona
Busy dial , small on the wrist and compared with example the Sub or Deep
sea not even close to the history not to compare to other chronos in the market

Never quite got the Daytona. Nice looking piece of engineering, but too
many dials and buttons, the majority of which, I suspect, never get used.
Don't know about 'overated' though.

I have to go with the Daytona. Never saw the appeal...which is a good thing for me personally, because I'd either be waiting for a small eternity to procure one or pay a Kings ransom lol.

Pretty much all of the new models, especially the goofy green bezels and dials and everything that's going on with the GMT.

Poor visibility. No date. Complication unusable by most. Complication has screw down pushers. Weak lume.

But for some reason people love it.

Don’t get me wrong. I do too. And I’ve had my fair share of them. They sure are pretty. And the size and comfort is super.

But I ultimately decided they are not for me based on reasons stated above.

Very potentially, arguably, the most desirable watch in the world. For me, yes...highly overrated.
