I love that even though this is a Rolex forum, everyone is pretty respectful of various other brands.

That being said, I own 3 Rolex models and I have added the coveted Speedmaster as of today.

I purchased it new, tax included from and AD for $4675. I feel that is a good price, don’t know though. I was considering a used one for $3350 but figured for roughly a grand more, I would own one from “birth”.

Anyways, I really like it. Truth be told, it is not quite a sub, or a GMT, but it has a presence all its own and a cool vintage look that I really enjoy.

This was on my list before going down the Rolex rabbit hole.

Congrats! That price is solid for one straight from your AD. Thats what the popular re-sellers are selling theirs if they are brand new with warrenty.

Congratulations! I'm guessing at that price, it's the Hesalite crystal. More authentic, but scratches too easily, given my clumsy ways.

I recently bought the Speedy Racing Chrono, after being overwhelmed with all the Omega Speedmaster options. For me, I prefer a date and an automatic. The SRC also has a clear caseback, co-axial escapement, and is accurate to +1 seconds per day on my wrist. I also like that it's a vertical clutch, column wheel movement. It checked all the boxes, just doesn't have that Moonwatch look or legacy.

Thanks everyone.i have a question:

I was surprised that there really is no glide clasp like on a modern sub, but that should come as no surprise since this is essentially a modern vintage.

Is there a modification that can be done to allow for a glide lock of sorts?

There is a glide style bracelet that fits The Seamaster.

Not sure about the Speedy?....

There’s an older thread that details two different clasps that work for this and their respective part numbers. I’ll look for them later if I get a chance and post.

The summery of the dial with the two registers is beautiful.

Very nice watch my friend.
