Moving from ROLEX WG Pepsi to PP World Timer…
Happy Monday all.
Just getting opinions from owners or former owners of a world time (not enamel dial), probably won’t be putting in that much $$$. Would you make the move away from a 126719 BLUE dial to a SS PP world time ? Thinking something along the lines of….5130, 5230, 5130R, 5230R, etc… I like the idea , haven’t had a world time before, would wear it often, just casual, not as a dress watch. I would get use out of the different time zone complication, as I do use the GMT complication 5/6 times a year. One thing I’m thinking about though….will Pepsi in all forms be discontinued? If so, does it come back? Should I wait? I know these are crystal ball questions, just trying to get thoughts. Thanks as always for any input. |

I did something similar except for an alternate Patek model on a strap. Ended up reacquiring the GMT lol.
World timers are beautiful references but a WG GMT is tough to beat as a daily! |

Richard, my vote would be do it. I’ve long covered the 5130 and will get one at some point eventually hopefully
It’s discontinued, the price point looks good to me. I think you can always reacquire Rolex if you want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve had both. I don’t care for the maxi-case Rolexes. The Patek is more functional, better looking (IMO), and less pedestrian. My GMT didn’t stay in the collection a year. I don’t think I’ll ever be without a WT. Good luck with your decision.

I would go with the Rolex. More versatile, durable, and hard to beat

Moving from ROLEX WG Pepsi to PP World Timer…
I’ve got no business in this thread but those WTs have been really attracting me as well.
Ichiran, that is beautiful! Would trade a Pepsi for that in a New York minute. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've not ventured into WT's yet, but it would be this if I do. It ticks all the boxes IMO.

Definitely try a worldtimer on first. I find them very hard to read.

Nothing yet. I go by Richard or Rick., Not sure where the Robert came in?
I’m making a few moves shortly. As I’ve stated on the TRF before… I’m a car guy before being a watch guy… Although it’s close! As I’ve done before, I moved a few pieces to free up cash to buy my latest vehicle. I still have a few Rolex, an AP, and PP, but I’m in the mode of building the watch collection back up again. Maybe making some moves this week. |

I will go against the tide and say stay with the WG Rolex. Great looking watch and one that can be worn often and rigorously should you choose. The PP is nice, difficult to read at a glance and while you maybe scratching an itch, once scratched, I believe you will move on based on your buy/sell/trade history. Nothing wrong with a change up but this would not be it. I would probably sit tight until a watch really blew me away to make a move. Good luck and keep us posted.

From my previous post….“ I moved a few pieces to free up cash to buy my latest vehicle.
I still have a few Rolex, an AP, and PP, but I’m in the mode of building the watch collection back up again. Maybe making some moves this week. “ Decided, with much disapproval from TRF I’m sure , to move forward with a different GMT altogether. One of the pieces I moved to acquire my latest Fcar, was the RM11. I decided to move a couple Rolex and get the RM back. Although this go around I went to the 11-02 with gmt. My collection thoughts have changed a bit recently and moving more towards other brands and much less Rolex in the lineup. The building phase continues after cashing in most of my collection, but two Rolex, one AP, one PP, one Panerai, and one RM will do for now. |

PP WT are under appreciated. I had a 5230g and miss it. WT are dressy pieces so putting a casual strap will dress it down. I’m thinking about adding the 5230p (great pic, Ichiran!). The previous version, 5130, feels a little too large. 5230s have better proportions, IMO.

I have 4 Rolex GMTs and a Seamaster GMT and a 5131R.
Out of those if I had to sell all but one, I’d keep the 116718 YG green dial Rolex, however it’s my only YG “sports” watch. I think this may be one of those times when it’s best to live in the world of AND rather than OR. |

I have both they each have their place, I’m a bit careful and more self conscious with the 5230 but don’t care in the slightest with the GMT or any Rolex.

My 5230R is slowly becoming my daily. Be advised you will lose some accuracy due to the lack of DST adjustments.

Interesting choice and movement on the collection. In the end, we each have to do what appeals to us. I look forward to seeing your new watch. Congratulations.
