Burying valuables in the yard has been out style for over 50 years. I have to wonder who he could be hiding stuff from that wouldn’t easily identify freshly dug earth. Can’t be government agencies, they’d see that right away.

There could be a good BC thread wrapped around why someone would bury watches and money in the back yard instead of securing in a bank vault.

Interesting thread.

Cannot imagine what would need to be buried that you would ever want to keep, use and need.

I don't know about pirates, but Jimmy does sing "Yes I am a Pirate... two-hundred years too late"

My uncle has 300k in AGE’s buried on his property. I don’t think that is the best idea honestly.

Sorry to disappoint you Abdullah but no stories or overheard conversations pertaining to this topic.

On the other hand, I do recall an incident where developers were prepping a residential subdivision in a formerly rural area and discovered a 4'x2' concrete block buried about 5 feet beneath the ground. When they broke it up, they found it enclosed a wooden box. No gold coins or Rolexes. Just a deceased pet.

Here you go. Found "hiking" on their property in Tiburon. I can't imagine how much enough property to hike on would cost in Tiburon. Maybe they used the 10 mil to pay their prop tax for the year.

Beware of people with metal detectors on your property. Cannot tell you how bad an idea this is, safe deposit box is the answer. Next best a good ground level floor safe.
Or enjoy what you have now otherwise someone else will enjoy what you have earned.

So true Seth, I was driving around this past hour in this Christmas traffic wreaking frustration, where my scatter brain went to this thread and was picturing OP in real life, in the flesh posing Tony this question and picturing Tony's face with his response....man it made me giggle to myself in the car. Again, Tony, good one!!

Wouldn’t diamonds be easier to conceal? Wouldn’t melt either! Also, won’t register on metal detectors.
