Incoming... Cheap but very effective.
Lately I have been eye balling the Aurora Nera 88 demonstrator. But at the moment I feel like it would be a little selfish to spend that much.. given that I already have some nice Montblancs and Viscontis. So I decided to get another Jinhao. This is my second one. I also got another ink. The Noodlers Bernanke Black. And man I must say these 2 together flow like melted butter! Pen was $8 including amazon shipping. Hopefully it will last a long time.

Very cool pen! I haven't seen that one in my Jinhao searches. I might have to look into it. What size would you say the nib is? I picked up a few #6 Jinhao medium nibs with the intent of grinding them to various sizes. Italic, stub, etc etc. A demonstrator Jinhao would be pretty fun with a 1.3mm stub I bet

Well....
When you realize that you can put ink on paper with a nail, toothpick, piece of straight wire, one of your wife's bobby pins, a properly dipped fork tine, a thumb tack, a sewing needle, a knitting needle (BBB), a steak knife point, and many other items, there is no wonder here! Jinhao is all of the above at an affordable price with a converter! I have about 20 of them and they are a hoot and well worth the price! Well done!

I just picked one up today. I went with the translucent blue version also from Amazon. Again, about $8 on prime. I was pleasantly surprised to find an O ring installed at the section to body threads......EYE DROPPER!! Threw on some silicone on the section threads and filled the body with Diamine Blue Lightening. It's been working great all night. No leaks. Take a look and see if yours has an O ring as well. I'm tempted to order a clear version for maximum effect. Too cool!! Thanks for posting this thread! I've never had a Jinhao that didn't have some sort of peculiar surprise to it. Really great pens all considered. No complaints here about the brand.

I dropped my cheapy Pilot and am afraid I slightly bent the nib. Good thing it was only $10...Should I just buy another Pilot? I want a thicker nib than the Fine I got last time...Juuust to see. Any reccomendations at the UUUUber cheap price point?

Can't go wrong with a Jinhao but keep in mind, the nib widths seem to be fixed by the pen model and trim color. I.e. an x450 is going to have a #6 medium nib and you can't opt for a different size nib from the factory. The demonstrator in this thread has a much smaller nib in fine. I would suggest an x750 or an x450 with a #6 that you can swap out with an aftermarket nib from Goulet pens or the like. Those are going to be a nice medium thick line and they're nice looking, well made pens out of the box.

Just stumbled on a Monteverde Moza just now. This appears to be the exact same pen as the Jinhao! Down to the o ring and colors. Not sure how that's possible but if you wanted a US made pen (assuming here) this is an option for about $20. This is funny. It's literally the exact same pen just in a kind of cool bespoke clear box.

Ditch the converter and use it as an eye dropper. I think you'll enjoy the pen a little more in that configuration I'm still planning to grind the factory nib to an italic on mine. I haven't been using mine much lately, but with a nib re grind and an eye dropper fill it could make it into the rotation more often.

Thank you!! Here's the other one. I thought it was the same brand but I guess I'm blind. It looks really cheap and ugly, but it writes really nicely. Wonder if they have those in just simple black. And I polished the Tiffany. Much better!

No problem! I was pleasantly surprised to see it was already set up as an ink dropper from Jinhao. It's really cool to look at with a shimmering ink in the pen. I ordered a second clear un tinted version too Your Tiffany pen looks great polished as well. Good call!
