Thoughts on this trade

Hey guys,

Is this a good trade in your opinion?

My Yachtmaster 16622 (Box and Papers) recently serviced and polished by Rolex + 4.5k for a Mint with Box and Papers DeepSea Sea-Dweller 116660.

Thanks!

I assume a couple things....you’ve tried it on and are comfortable with the size, and you’re not feeling the love for your YM?
From all the pics and stories I’ve seen from your posts and outstanding photographs...I thought your YM was a forever piece. But the DS is also a gorgeous watch! And definitely an all-arounder, and fits the bill as your YM has, as long as your fairly casual/business casual, etc.... As it doesn’t fit under dress shirt sleeves very well :) if you like the DS....go for it!

Not a good trade, unless it is for the DBlue

Thanks Chris! I have to try it on yet again, first impressions were a bit shocking but understandable since there's such a big difference in size with the YM.

About the YM.. I really enjoy it but lately I've found myself in a bit of a love/hate relationship with it and I just randomly got offered the DSSD by a friend that just started a new trading/pawn/store, I'm not even looking to purchase, but one thing for sure, I've always been attracted to diver's and I have always considered that my next move would be towards a ND Sub, just because its such a cool watch and no f's given, which the DSSD is many ways is as well. Maybe I'll just give my friend a visit and try it on, worst thing is, Wifey is pushing me towards the DSSD

If it fits, (thickness was the reason I ended up selling the couple I used to have) my wrists are 6.5 but fairly flat, but skinny. So the length/width wasn’t so much the problem as the height. It just looked too thick for my arm. If I was more comfortable with it, I would have the Dblue as my only SS diver! I LOVE that dial. Either way black or blue....the DSSD is a bada** watch! As far as the $...you can do better, as I see YM’s around 6-6.5K reselling. I believe the dssd’s around 8.5K pre-owned mint.

I agree with everyone else. I'm not a huge fan of the DSSD but just on value alone, it's no go for me.

I'd keep the YM and get a Blue Black Bay (no date sub) ;)

No...I wouldn't do it. I have no idea what the money says, but you've enjoyed that watch way too much to be flipping it away.

Now, if you want to save up and add another watch, fine. But, like others have said, take a look at the D-Blue. Or the new SD43.

If you want a diver, i'd keep the YM and get the sub ND, pre-loved and have both. the sub will be just a little more than what you'd pay up for SDDS.

your YM is so gorgeous!

$2,500 is the maximum you should be adding, love the DSSD!

Not a good deal on the money for the trade. The black dial DSSD several years old and complete can be had from the TS for around 8.5k. The trade value on your watch should make your out of pocket 2-2.5k. If you want a diver look at the Tudor Black Bay. Pick your color, black, blue or red. In-House or ETA movement. Bracelet, leather or NATO. In the pre-owned market it should only set you back around 2-2.5K.
