Icon10 A different kind of Incoming - D850 - all christmased out

Well, it was on my Christmas wishlist, and as my current camera developed some issues after a firmware upgrade, i put my name on the D850 waiting list.

it's no different than waiting for a Daytona. You put your name on as many waiting lists as you can

You can buy one for twice the price on ebay (take THAT, Daytona!!).

I kept checking the sites and rumors and the delivery dates moved to January-February. Everybody and their uncle want one.

it's okay, i said. 2018 will come in no time!

And then i got the email from my AD.

Your camera is ready to ship!!! WOW!!

It arrived here yesterday and now i just have to learn not to suck as much using it.
No, a great camera won't make one a great photographer :[

But hey, they say, practice makes perfect.

So, i'm all christmased out!

I suppose my husband can always wrap the empty box for under the tree, right?

t.

Just before my D5300 crapped out, i got a 24-70mm that i've been eyeballing for years. Other than the kit lenses the D5300 came with, i only have a 50mm 1.4F prime lens.

I've never tried using a Canon DSLR. When i was shopping first time, someone told me:
"They are equally good. Buy what your friends have, so you can trade lenses." And people around me had Nikon :)

Thank you. Barely touched up and cropped a little.
I'm still just clicking around in Jpeg. Each file is 30mb big

I'm a fan of FX frame, but the camera is a lot heavier too. Need to steady my hand

Those shots came out beautifully.

I’m glad you are enjoying the D850. Sounds like you have some good glass to pair with it

Thank you!

I have been doing some studying/learning/reading since i got it and patiently waiting to use it more.

I've never had a FX camera, so hard to compare, but the autofocus is very good, so is high iso. No grain.

Still can't believe i got it so soon!

I use a D800 with all of the Nikon f2.8 lenses (14mm up to 200mm - trinity), including the f1.4 50mm and f2.8 105mm macro. I am considering the D800 in the future. For now the D800 works perfect.

Congrats on the D850. Fantastic camera. Try the macro lens: Nikkor
105mm f/2.8G IF-ED (you have that one right?) is fantastic and you shall be able to get some lovely macro shots! You need a tripod for that of course.

Shot a few minutes ago with my D7000 and the 105 like yours on a tripod and f.5 on SCREEN (edit SCEENE) mode with indoor lighting. I am a rookie btw hadn't practiced in years
