Advice: 16610LV

I would get a good, previously worn LV and base it on condition and price. If it’s not going to be a safe queen, no point in getting an unworn piece. You will be too worried about damaging it to enjoy wearing it. That’s happened to me before. I have a this 2005 LV and I can enjoy without fear. Happy hunting.

Always buy the nicest example you can afford..this will keep your depreciation at a minimum should you resell and prices always escalate far quicker on nicer watches/complete sets. That said, all of Tony's sets are top notch usually...so you're in good hands...lately that springer guy's got some top notch sets also I hear from some little birds. We're blessed with great selection from great sellers here.

I believe it was M then V serials followed by the first of the random serial 8 digits which were amongst the last 16610LVs .I'm sure their is as sticky thread in the reference section regarding serials numbers posted by Tools , but I could be wrong & it wouldn't be the first time

Interesting twist or follow up to this post.

I have been on the hunt but not yet found the one. Local AD gets a 16610LV in used about 2 months after I post. AD calls and let’s me know it came in and I can purchase it for $7500 full set. I buy the watch and right away can feel a buzzing/vibration from the rotor. Instead of bringing the watch back to the AD, I take it to a different AD that has an in-house Rolex service department. The tech looks at the watch and says it has a bent case and he cannot service it without it going to Switzerland for a new case. I call the AD who sold me the watch and they offer my money back or to send it in to RSC. I opt for option 2 and have it sent to RSC. Watch goes in, standard service, shipped back, no issue with the case, I am good to go. So, proud owner of a 16610LV for $7500 full set plus a normal service cost from RSC. Here it is-


Note: I did put it on a glideock which I absolutely love.

May I add, the Y9xxxxx serial numbers were the first LVs in late 2003 and carried over into 2004. If you are looking for a first year production, I would go with a Y9 or low F serial number.

As far as the last year of production being collectable, that would definitely not be my choice.

He/she said that RSC found no issue with the case, so no replacement case.

Go for it and don’t wait ! Of don’t take the first one but I bought mine 5 months ago and the price since didn’t stop going UP...
And I love it, it’s a beautiful watch

My piece is a "V".

The last serial should be AlphaNumeric because I asked the dealer to get me this serial but he had run out of stock so I have no choice but settle for a "V" instead.

The market doesn't agree with you at the moment. Randoms are commanding a premium over the D,Z,M,V, if you even find them.

Moral of the story; just because the person wearing a white coat and eye glass Lupe at a Rolex AD says your watch has an issue, don’t believe it.

I was close to having them send but in for a re-case but didn’t.

I also am happy I went this route because I have a watch I am not afraid to wear. If I spent too much or got something nos, it would have made me think twice.
