So I was at Sam’s Club the other day...

I was in the jewelry section, just looking around. I happened to be standing close to the watch section when I heard, “Mom, is that a Rolex?”

It sounded like a young voice, so I turned around to find a boy who looked to be about 4 years old, pointing towards the group of Invicta watches.

The mother replied “what?” and continued walking as did the young boy.

I was kind of blown away by this experience. How does such a young little boy know about Rolex? Maybe someone in his family owns one? Maybe he sees the advertisements on the road? Mom sure didn’t seem to care about his question or about the watches.

What do you all think?

Has anyone experienced something similar before?

Kids are very perspective, they hear and see everything.

Whew!

I thought this was going to be the start of a new trend in “I just saw a Rolex at Sams Club” threads.

I first thought the kid was referring to your wrist when posing the question.

That’s a very good point.

I first thought that as well, but my watch was hiding under my cuff !

Well, it could've been worse.

Kid could have pointed at your Rolex and said, "Mom is that an Invicta?"

Interesting enough. I saw two boys say "this is boring, let's go see the Rolex in the case" and off they ran to the jewelry case where I know there's a rose gold Daytona...this was at Costco and they were about ten years old. Odd kids this young already know about the brand....the marketing is working its way to the youth for sure.

You should have offered to adopt him on the spot and then explained no son, those are knockoffs.

That happened to me. Only it was not a child, and it was my two-tone YM.

It is the only time one of my watches has drawn a comment.

disclaimer: unless R6S is involved in my youngest's s case, then you can forget about it

Haha...as others have said, kids are very perceptive. My son is 2.5 years old and constantly notices the "crown" logo. He'll pull up my sleeve and point to the 3 crown logos; dial, clasp and actual crown. And if I happen to wear a non-Rolex (very rare, haha), he'll examine the watch and go "huh?", hahah.

Interesting story; I generally stay away from Sam's as it seems redundant to Walmart.

Hard for me to view how well Rolex is integrated in the culture as I'm a fan and it is so much in my life. I must say I never hear anyone discuss Rolex in my day to day life unless it has to do what's on my wrist.

I browsed by the watch counter at Sam's Club and saw some horrendous looking monstrosities posing as watches...did I say horrendous? Who would wear such things? Never had I knew such things were popular. I guess if they stop working they can make awesome 22" Rim hubcaps?

Lol it's nice to see such a young child have the recognition and passion building. Just reminds me how lucky I am to own one of these and think little of it now.

My son is 6 and if my wife asks him "What watch is daddy wearing today?" He says ROLEX. Though he doesn't know the value of the watch quite yet. But He will get one when he hits a mile stone, probably a wedding gift. Not mine though, I will let him make his own memories with a new one.

I taught my 2 year old grandson the word Rolex early. I'd show him my watch and say Rolex. Now I say what is this, he says Rolex! Need to teach em young.
