Having said that a GMT or Explorer would likely be my second
From a practical point of view (although I prefer fluted/jubilee anyhow) the smooth/oyster combo will show scratches (as above) whereas I wore my DJ36 fluted/jubilee daily for 15 years and you couldn't see a mark on it. Rounded links and irregular bezel scatter the light so marks disappear from view.

Oh... go DJ of course!

Dj41

I am a little impartial, I would go with DJ, but I think GMT is a very close second.

Looks like you have made a decision Murtz congrats. I have Seadweller and DJ41 and the DJ on jubilee is so comfortable. Give fluted bezel and jubilee a try you won't be disappointed classic combination

I thought it was time to get something a bit more subtle and understated, yet stunning at the same time.. something to wear at work but also be able to wear when smart casual.

I was set on getting the Datejust 41, Black dial, Smooth bezel with Oyster Bracelet. It's a truly beautiful piece, and I think the combination allows it to be more sporty.

Then.. I was offered the GMT II LN! And now I'm completely torn. It's just as stunning in a completely different way. Am I just not ready for subtle? Can the GMT be worn to work without being too in your face?

Buying both isn't an option (although it was considered!) Lookong for thoughts/advice/pictures to sway me one way or another...

Just picked up the GMT II LN last month and I love it. In your comparison, I think the GMT complication makes it a more interesting watch than a Datejust.

I wouldn't ever need to use the GMT function to be honest, pretty much like I've never used the chronograph in any of my chronos. Can't be just me that buys a watch purely on looks rather than functions?

DJ41. The GMT made my eye wonder a little but I came back to the one I've wanted for a while.

I have a gmt LN and wear it with suits, casual. You name it. It's such a versatile watch. Sporty, but with a bit of dress and bling chucked in.

Go for it, and as Neil said earlier they are becoming more difficult to find in these days of limited sports stock.....

I should point out that all others mentioned are great watches too. Just my personal opinion.

Interesting thread! I am also currently thinking of adding a DJ 41. I used to own a TT DJ 36 mm with a stunning blue dial, jubilee bracelet with hidden clasp and alternating red/black date wheel. I really regretted selling it and if it had been a bit bigger (38-40 mm) I would still have it. I also owned the GMT II for a couple of years but the polished Center links were fingerprint and micro swirl magnets. My DJ didn’t have those issues and always looked great. Obviously it’s down to personal preference, but I will definitely buy mine with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. If the smooth bezel really appeals to you, I’d still recommend the jubilee bracelet to really set the Watch off. To be clear, I don’t dislike the polished Center links but they just don’t stay nice IMHO.
