News/BS from the AD today ???

I was in the Rolex AD this morning and he stated that rolex are indeed slowing down SS production and slightly increasing PM production.

He thought by around 40% less SS and ‘a few’ more PM models.

He has no reason to lie to me and he seemed to fully believe what he was told by his Rolex Rep.

Me, I don't fully believe anything I've been told. But, that's me.

I am the exact opposite. I tend to believe everything. I am damned gullible.

But based on what I am seeing, sounds like GolfPunk is getting some pretty common sensical information.

I would believe this. My AD has had a heck of a time getting any of the desirable SS sports models. The DJ seems to be fine. But the others are like pulling teeth.

Over the years I’ve learned not to believe anything I hear and only about half of what I actually see.
Rolex seems to create demand by controlling supply. I only have a couple Rolex’s and was wondering if any of the other big watch companies do the same?

Lots of rumor and conjecture. Best to wait and see what the new year brings before reaching any conclusions or knowing for certain.

FWIW, I've spoken to the managers of a couple Rolex ADs in Southern California over the last week or so. They said they expect deliveries of sports models to start up again in the first week of January and that dealer stocks should be better by February and March. They also said they have been warned of a price increase of between 5% and 8%.

They are probably controlling and screening the release of SS and to which ADs so they don't appear straight at greys; as for PMs I doubt there will be much change and as Rolex have alleged that they fell short of SS demand this year makes no sense to divert SS production to PM.

x2. Rumors are just that and nothing more. Many AD's have been known to not know anything about Rolex and their decisions at corporate level. They just sell them and some don't even do a very good job at that.

Rolex never warns of price increases. ADs are only given a day or two notice that prices have been increased.

ADs just make stuff up to encourage sales or maybe to just have some fun with the usually clueless customers.

Once at my AD a new saleslady started out with a line B.S. within earshot of the watchmaker who nearly interrupted her almost immediately, because I was well known among staff as being generally well-informed.

I love how people here say believe none/half of what you hear. This is followed up by I heard (no doubt probably on this forum) that Rolex never tells ADs anything. Do ADs lie to make sales? Probably. Does Rolex never inform its sales force of impending changes? Probably not. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle. These absolute truth statements from the old guard here get tiresome.

After eight years and four Rolex watches, three Tudor watches, and a Frederique Constant, I became friends with most of the staff at my AD, including the owner.

Given the number of times I visited the store and the number of conversations I had with staff, both on site and off, I learned quite a lot about how they do things, especially after they got to know me personally.

So, I don't much appreciate your questioning my integrity.

If you find us old-timers tiresome, you can utilize the convenient "Ignore" button in the "User CP" or you could start your own exclusive forum.

I guess I'm just a clueless customer and the ADs in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach were just having fun with me.

Believable. But they could do that just by lowering PM prices. Are they trying to make every PM a PNPN?

It's probably going to be one of two things....either price increase or new movements. If it's a price increase, existing buyers will rejoice. If it's a movement change, existing buyers will remorse.

I dont think existing buyers will remorse. I do however think thos who 'panic' purchased and overpaid will feel like fools
