Jeff
It is probably a 79280P which is the last batch of the 792x0 tudor chrono series. This has ceased to produce in 2008 but in Hong Kong, you may still be able to find brand new in the authorized dealers being the last stocks. The listed price is HK$20K (around US$2.6K) with typically 8% discount.

This model is produced in around 2003 to 2008. If you have the serial no. of the watch, I may be able to estimate more accurately.

The polished of the clasp looks different. The one I cross across is that the clasp should be shiny polished type.

need help Tudor 79260

HI needing help validating this watch it has the original leather strap and end links for the leather strap ,it is marked as a 79260P marked on case serial B 92.. num dates it to 97/98 ?
case back marked Rolex outside , inside case back marked 79260 P the P is is larger than numbers. Movement 7750 marked tudor .Rolex crown . I know oyster band shown is a knockoff as it was listed as such by seller. Thanks it seems good except I read here the P's were Tiger No Rolex Crown?

Rolex crown / caseback for B92 serial should be ok. Also, I have seen "P" for pre-tiger series as well which I believe it exists.

No problem. Bagel's word works for me.
I bet that strap w/ end pieces and deployant would look much better than the fake oyster.

Dan You were right I'm loving it .I had to put a rubber strap on it temporarily as the leather one is too big it seems . I will try and post better pics .The booklet that came with it shows a Tiger Dialed model on Front cover and Two Tiger models inside as well as various other Tudor models however the picture demonstrating how to use the various functions has NO Tiger on the dial . Also a bonus I just noticed this one is Black with a silver sub dials only noticed it outside in better light .Again thanks guys.

This is the most "accurate" information I have found on the Tudor Chronos so far

I have had my 79280P Tiger for about 3 years now and love it,

lately I have been looking to swap out the black arabics dial for a black stick dial but the NY RSC will only swap with the exact dial during a service
Would anyone know of a source for the black stick dial?
At this point I would even consider purchasing a complete Tiger with black stick dial and have my AD do the swap.

thanks
dave

The last "Big Block" series [79160 w/ fixed black tacky bezel, 79170 w/ rotating bezel, and 79180 w/ fixed metal tacky bezel] were produced until about the early to mid 1990's. They featured Rolex cases, crowns, bracelets and Tudor clasps. The next series, the 79280 did not have the Rolex labeled case or crown. The case was changed as well to look more like a modern Daytona. Not sure exactly when the Tiger versions were produced but they did not sport the Rolex crown anywhere on the watch.
The 79280P series had polished lugs, hence the "P". Hope that helps.
The "Big Blocks" are considered more desirable than the Tiger models. The Monte Carlo dialed versions even older that the 79170 series are even more desirable and the prices are going thru the roof.
A few gratuitous picks of my 79170.

Dan my Tiger has a Rolex Crown. The watch has been serviced too and came back that way. The clasp has the Tudor Shield and did the crown previously....seen in last photo

John,
Thankfully my knowledge has increased since that posting. The some 792X0's did have Rolex crowns, cases, and Oysterdate dials but were also transitioning to Tudor shields during that series, so many variants can be found. It's also my understanding that Rolex will replace the Tudor shield crowns w/ the Rolex crown during a service.
Btw, your linen dialed 79260 is absolutely stunning.
I'd live to own one some day.

Were the white gold subdial surrounds (shown below) exclusive to the TIGER series dials or were they present on pre and post models also?

Dave,
I don't think these surounds are white gold, rather stainless steel. Also, these metal surrounds are only found on single colored dials. Dials with sub dials the same color are only found on the 792X0 series and later, including Tiger, and both pre and post Tiger.

Thanks for the come back Dan.
I was originally thinking of swapping out this dial for a black/white subs dial but I think I am going to leave this one alone.
I like the look of the silver trim around the subdials, it adds a bit of class to an already classy tool watch!
