GMT II 116718 green dial "date" colour
Ok, so the GMT II 116718 green dials I've seen in pictures here have a date which Is black on white background and a gold 24 hour hand. The black dial 116718 comes in green colour date on white background and a green colour 24 hour hand.
However I just came across a 116718 green dial which has a green date on white background. The 24 hand seems to be in line (gold hand). Does a GMT II green dial come with green date? If not then what's up with this particular watch? |

Itīs more likely that it was only a date wheel change.

Mine is white. Is it new with all stickers? If so, strange...

GMT II 116718 green dial "date" colour
Wish I could pull off full YG but can't. My WG Submariner is perfect.
Here's my 713 with the date change, also changed my GMTc SS to a green date wheel too. Should be able to option these at purchase time.

Sometimes I donīt understand these threads. If you feel that something is wrong about the watch youīve seen at a non-AD store then just stay away. You wonīt buy the watch anyway from this dealer because youīve got a strange feeling about it.
For references that are still in production Iīd always go the AD route as there are huge discounts available on PM models. |

I'm definitely not buying it. I'm just trying to understand how things work. Why would anyone change the date wheel of a brand new watch. What benefit is he gaining by modifying a brand new watch?

Interesting....You say you can option the wheel date change at purchase time? I beleive you are talking about a non ad? as I know for a fact that ADs and Rolex doesn't change date wheels even if you request them too.
So my question here is why would even non ads for that matter just modify original factory rolexes? Even if you take the modified Rolex to a RSC they will raise a lot of questions if they at all decide to service/fix any issues (in case you end up with some). |

There's no accounting for individual tastes...people make mods to their watches all the time. Not a big deal.

Just curious, when you make these mods, let's say the date wheel in you're instance, is the new date wheel (green in your case) Rolex original? Also have you given your watch to RSC for any reason (for service etc). How so they take it? From what I know if you make after market mods RSC refuses to take your watch. I could be wrong,

Fair enough, but this particular watch dealer didn't make this modification on someone's request, in fact he had this watch for sale and when I inquired about the date wheel being green, he tried convincing me it comes like this.

GMT II 116718 green dial "date" colour
It just means a change was made somewhere along the supply chain. He may have traded stock with another AD (who inexplicably made the swap) - so he himself "got it that way".
The only other thought I have is that somehow this was done at factory during assembly meant for another dial combo and was inadvertently sent out as you saw it. But it doesn't really matter without pics

It's original and the only reason I would send a watch to RSC is for warranty work. I use independents like Jewlers on Time which I used last month for 3 different ROLEX watches that had very minor issues and only took 1 month from my door and back. I personally think ROLEX is ran like a cartel in that their rules and regulations are at times clearly ridiculous. But some people like em, that's ok.

My G serial 718 black face has a black date wheel. Is this normal?
