114060 Winding Issue
HI all, would appreciate some feedback from you. I have a 114060 purchased BNIB in October 2014. I noticed this am, for the first time ever, a "gritty" feel when winding the watch. It has always been buttery smooth to wind. I only wind it a few times a month. I am going to let it run down (as possibly I am feeling the clutch slip from overwinding?) but if it persists should I send it in? I am still under warranty until 2017. (received the extra year based on date of purchase) Anyone else experience this or have any other advice?
Thanks! |

Does the watch have the gritty feeling from the first wind, or does it become gritty after you've wound it a bit?
I think if it's happening after you've wound it some, then you may be right about the clutch slip...but if it's happening right off the bat..well, then maybe a watchmaker should look at it. |

I've experienced this on other Rollies. Take it in for a service check it's usually a quick fix but they never tell me the cause.

This exact thing happened to my 114060, I took it to my AD and it was sent to Rolex for repair, returned within a few weeks and back to normal.

We get about a hundred of these posts a year..
Usually it's simply because the watch is fully wound and the mainspring is being felt turning inside the barrel, which is perfectly normal.

114060 Winding Issue
Usually the next hundred most common questions are-
I hear swirling sound when I rotate the watch. I don't hear any ticking. Is it safe to ____________...( fill-in the blank )

Thanks all, took it to my watch maker. He confirmed it is not the mainspring, sending it off to RSC under warranty. Thanks for all the replies.
Cheers. |
