Rolex paper authentication

I got a watch with this paperwork. However it seems off. Seems to be a dot matrix copy....am I losing my mind? Too paranoid....or spot on? I don't think they were using this technology back then.....

Seems odd for a 69 paper....seems they would have used a screen printing process.....hope I am wrong.

Looks like dot-matrix printing to me, not printing press documents.

100% fake. I think you need to change where you shop my friend!

Here is a complete thread I wrote on fake papers/booklets.

Scanned and printed.
Maybe you'll get a rebate for the missing documentation.

Gina

I spent twelve years dealing with forged documents before I retired. I have stood in large rooms stuffed to the ceilings with forged documents. Make no mistake, there are literally millions of them floating around and there is a thriving industry still printing them.

The simple truth is that hardly anyone can say if a document is forged or not and that applies to booklets.

There are cheaply made documents that look ok at first sight but are readily detected with a loupe. However many, if not the majority are printed to the same standard as the original documents and a loupe will be of no use what so ever.

If the purpose of the document is to increase the value of a product such as a vintage Rolex, then there is plenty of 50 year paper on which to print and the same mixture of inks can be used. This can be done quite cheaply on a run of a few thousand.

Things such as water marks, sequential numbering, metal strips and perforations are now easily copied.

Using "original papers" to authenticate any product is madness in this day and age. That may be blunt but it is the truth.

I often think the concept of original papers is a long term kidology. You buy a Rolex at a high price because it has papers and then you sell it on later to someone else at an higher price and so on. No one in the chain will dare submit the papers for a forensic test, they are simply too frightened to do so.

So to answer your question, the papers may be nice, they may look good but goodness only knows if they are genuine.

Regards

Mick
