Bad service from Rolex AD

Hey all, I am new member and bought my first Rolex on Saturday, I'm from the UK but bought the watch (a GMT master 2 BLNR) in the USA.
I had a few issues when buying it which I am unsure about.

I didn't realise until all was finalised but they had put a reasonable sized scratch on the case. They agreed to have their Rolex polisher take care of it on Monday and if I wasn't happy they would take it back.

Over the weekend I have been wondering if I should take them up on the offer as there were a few other issues, small but it just wasn't the service I expected.

They didn't even set the time/date? or the GMT hand.

Staff tried to give me the wth with 7 links one side and 4 on the other, so the clasp was completely off centred on my wrist.

The warranty card is not dated, I don't have the service booklet.

The staff threw away all the tags and bezel cover.

I realise some of these are small issues but where do you guys think I stand with the shop. I paid retail price and they halved sales tax with me, so it was roughly $300 over retail.

Any advice would be appreciated as I am going to go in tomorrow morning.

also if anyone had an email/phone number for a centralised Rolex after care dept for advice that would be great.

If they’re willing to return or replace do that. I’m not having a brand new watch polished.

I would return it.

where in the US are you? An AD in indiana has BLNR in stock. I can check my AD in IL tomorrow, if you're close.

I'd go full Francis Begbie on that AD.

I am in the south east. I am hiding home on Tuesday so wouldn't give much time for me to find another in America.

No date on the warranty card? Are you sure this is an AD?

You can be specific here. There is no rule about mentioning what city you’re in or even who the AD was. I agree this sounds very suspect. How did they put a scratch on the case? Did you see it happen? Why did you accept the sale?

I think it would've been done as they were resizing the bracelet. I didn't realise until I left the shop.
Im its an AD I got the shop details off the website. I would like to see what sort of service they provide tomorrow, depending on how that goes providing its not against the rules ill more than happily say the state and shop.

At least get them to write the sale date on the warranty card.

Iffy. I'd ask for another watch or a full refund.

Return the watch for an immediate and complete refund.

1. You can stop reading here. Return it for a full refund or a brand new watch with all its stickers, tags, and protecters in place.

2. No big deal.

3. Not surprised, but unacceptable. Why do ADs suck so much?

4. Weird.

5. Odd.

6. Not a fan, but not surprising.

7. Fair price.

8. This is an AD problem, not a Rolex problem. Shoddy ADs keep being shoddy because we let them.

this seems very fishy to me. I think when you add it all up - the missing links, the lack of hang tags, the undated warranty card - what you come up with is this isn't a new watch. It was sized for someone's wrist, it has been damaged and they're concealing that fact with an undated warranty card. If there's another explanation I'd love to know what it is. I suppose they could just be incompetent/negligent, but this seems like a bit more than that to me.

was it an AD selling you a new watch or was it an AD selling you a used BNIB watch as there is some that going around lately? Im asking because the BLNR is somewhat hard-ish to find in the US and the warranty card raises that question. Maybe they sourced it elsewhere.

Only things I would add to this are if they give you a new one and insist that the stickers have to be removed, tell them you’re ok with it but you are removing them and you’ll do it on the spot. Otherwise, get your money back.

You paid retail, not just above. Tax doesn’t count.

Good luck.

What did you pay? If even close to retail, you’ve paid way over UK RRP by some way with exchange rate.

**Remember you also MUST declare the watch on entering the UK and pay VAT.**

That’s why a UK member buying in USA is rarely what it’s cracked up to be. You’ll end up with a close to £9k BLNR.

Return it and buy in UK...you’ll be glad you did.

by the look of the scratch, HELL NO!!! Take it back, you don't go to a AD to receive a brand new Rolex in that condition. my two cents

Return the watch. For the price paid should be completely satisfied in every respect.

Personally ,don't think I would have left the AD with the scratches on the watch . Almost seems like the assistant was in a rush to get the deal done , appreciate time in now of the essence as you've stated your returning to the UK on Tuesday .I wouldn't waste anymore time, & return it to the AD & ask for replacement or a full refund .

You shouldn't be buying a brand new watch in that condition. Sorry, I know you probably are trying to justify keeping it, but you really shouldn't. Especially given the other fishy circumstances.

Are you sure this is an AD? It's not like they are going to go in the back and get this guy a new BLNR. Most ADs don't even have one much less two. If this AD can't even resize the watch for you I'd be hesitant about having them polish it. That scratch looks bad but I think in reality they are very much on the surface and probably will polish out. Tough call. I'm sure you want to take this watch back home. Maybe see what the polish looks like and then make a decision. I think my GMT has 6 links on one side and 4 on the other. Moving the link is not a big deal.

Return it and get one in the UK they are about

If you get copped bringing it into the country you will be charged VAT on it and import duty.

I ordered a £59 item from the USA and paid £30.42 VAT and charges.

paying in GBP US prices are higher anyway. Add on VAT and import duty and you are paying more than buying one from a grey dealer in the UK and those are available immediately.

I’m amazed how many people in the UK think buying a watch in the USA is the easy option
