Incoming: Explorer II Polar

Hello Friends,

Just got this one incoming, ordered and serviced by my local AD to be a long time at my side as a thrustworthy tool-watch :) (I hope)

Its from 2011, as I wanted the 40 mm. Some time ago I asked on this forum some opinions, for I was not sure to take this one or a tritium dial. But I must admit that the luminova is quite handy!! And what a comfortable watch it is indeed!!

Thanks for the advice, rgwarden, DLRIDES ,bdigi249, Quicksilver
And for the final touch of inspiration to get one at last: toomuchtalk

I added a picture of my previous watch , the explorer I (wich I still have), Its taken in a more 'adventurous' setting (for its doing what's its supposed to do, exploring) !!

See you !

nice historical shot

a good thread would fully cover the various "explorer" themed ads that ran in the 1970s and 1980s (and 1990s). I think the Rolex corporate marketing people have moved away from that theme toward more mainstream sports like golf and tennis, and also sailing/yachting.

but those 1980s ads of mountaineers and divers and stuff are first-rate, as this polar explorer ad is

What a fantastic choice. I really like the 3186 Polars because of that rarer ‘thin’ plot Rolex went with right at the end of that line. This watch looks good now and will look greater every year. Good for you.

Excellent choice! I too have a polar Explorer II and Explorer. I’d like to visit Jerusalem one day as well (if they’ll let me into the country).

Congrats, great watch. I replaced my black dial 16570 with a polar dial 16570 and I couldn't be happier.

Don't wait too long...prices are starting to get as ridiculous as the 16710's.

Lol... I believe you, but I will be turned away at immigration because I'm a Muslim who's lived in the Middle East and Pakistan, and have no familial connections to the country. ;)
