If I was the OP and I could afford it, I'd seriously consider paying the premium now and getting on the lists. If one comes up, he could always flip it if they were still commanding a premoum or pass if the price had stabilised.

Here's a pic to help the OP's choice
Would you pay VAT on the used one, Scotty? On the new one, for sure, but does it apply to second hand goods?

Sadly you do - as its from outside of the EU. New or used, makes no difference

True that man! Especially in London!

Congratulations on being one of the luckiest SD43 owners! I went to Amsterdam recently, but found none. I get the same old boring response from most ADs! Where did you pick up yours exactly if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too! Waiting is a pain! But I'll keep looking and wait until at least February. If I couldn't find one, then be it, I'll just purchase one at the lowest premium I'd have to pay :/

Well, I guess it really depends on your wrist size. I'm used to 42-44mm watches. I even tried the DSSD, but the issue wasn't the diameter, but rather the thickness. The SD43 is simply perfect for me

The DSSD is great but after several attempts just did not work for me. There is a line that I will not pay over msrp. See Daytona-C for reference. But for what I paid it was as if I paid tax at my AD and added a few hundred more. For the enjoyment of owning the watch it has been worth it for me. Plus now I don't search it out or agonize over it. I now do that over another watch. Go try it on at a Grey, see if it works, negotiate with the Grey in person. Get the best deal possible. Buy the watch and move on. Good luck.
First of all, great photos man! That's what I thought too! I've tried it at watchfinder, which is like a preowned watch seller, it was absolutely brilliant! The SD43 will simply be the only Rolex diver I'd need and I don't plan on flipping it anyway. In fact, I've never even flipped any. It'll be a watch which I'd keep for the rest of my life. I seriously don't mind paying, say additional $1k, but about $3k extra here in London, is a bit too much IMHO. That's why I'm contemplating. Nonetheless, I'll wait until February to see if the price decreases. If it goes around $1-1.5k extra, I'll cop it.

Thanks for your opinion though! :)

I suppose we all have our own interpretations, but to my eye this is not a "huge" watch in the least. One could argue that it wears similar to a Submariner which has squared off boxy looking lugs.

To each his own, but I've seen pictures of members here with slim wrists wearing it. IMO Rolex nailed the perfect size
I completely agree with you! ;)

tough choice.
that watch is so hard to find...if you really want it...buy it while you can..
i have seen some in the US with not too much premium on them.
good luck in your search. it s a cool piece.. i personally don't think there will be red lettering for very long..next year it won't be 50 th anniversary will it? Rolex might go ahead and produce their quota...and then might stop once they reach that number...that is what makes their watch special..very little changes...but changes.
Just my opinion.
I know, right? I was in the US for about three weeks in October. I wish I had paid for those who offered it a lower premium. I was so stupid to think that I would eventually find it at RRP here in Europe, it's virtually impossible! I don't know about the future of the red lettering, it's only a speculation and nobody really knows except for Rolex. Let's see what happens in the next few months. I'm hoping to purchase one at either RRP or minimal premium ;)

Do not let desire overcome common sense. Rolex is in the business of selling watches so there will be more SD 43 watches next year and once the additional supply emerges, prices will stabilize.

I have to say though, I've seen this watch from across a room several times already, and I mistook it for a SubC every time.

If you want one THAT badly, give David a shout on the pre-loved one and get stung for a lot less.

Good point Devildog! Chronext's offer is not that bad! But I'm gonna sit out and see what happens in the next month or two. Worst case scenario, I'd get one from them.

Bloody hell! That's such a beautiful watch! I'm jealous

I'm not entirely sure about Chrono24, I don't have the experience buying a watch there. I've been reading, and there's been some scary stories of people buying a watch via Chrono24. This watch will be the most expensive watch I'll own to date, so I'm a bit skeptical :/

SD43 owner here. If you can buy the watch at srp, it won’t hurt that much if you buy it at a little above srp. If at present, the process of acquring is detrimantal to your health... go ahead and enjoy the watch. Life is short. YOLO.

I would like to change my answer. If LVc and BLNRs are now selling approximately £2500 over RRP as other threads state, then I would go for it.
