Just to clarify are we discussing the Submariner (114060) or submariner range?

Sorry for the stupid question but is there a new no date movement?

Seriously, though, it's like their most popular product ... would be insane to discontinue and then triple the entry price point.

Who on earth is paying 15K for a LVc? Just picked one up yesterday... might consider flipping now haha

I hope no one but it is inevitable as we move into next year and there are no LVcs around at all except those at 15K.

Has to be one of the dumbest rumours around. More chance of biting your own back end.

Yes. But then again I have met some really simpleton AD SAs in the last few days so I would not be surprised if one would state this as a fact in order to get a sale.

even if they cut the production back they wouldn't discontinue it.

If they were thinking on it this sudden wave of popularity should at least make them think twice.

Or maybe this ‘source’ of theirs meant to say Rolex will not be introducing a new variation of SS Sub but instead only introducing a new variation of PM sub for 2018? Then misunderstood it as Rolex is stopping production of SS subs for good?

How much is an ap 15400? $16900.
116610ln now is $8550.
Sure the sub isn’t as pretty but compared to the ap a sub at that price is a steal.

I bet Rolex can price a 116610ln at $10000 and get away with it. Sure they’ll lose some sales, but they’ll make more and the prestige of the brand will increase.

In regards to the limited stock, remember it wasn’t too long ago watch sales were down, imports were down. Maybe Rolex adjusted their output for this and now with the economy the way it is, there is a delay in ramping up output.

I agree with everything you said. I don't see a shortage next year. I see a reversion to the mean.

i heard a rumour that they will make you sign a piece of paper and only give you the warranty card so you can say you own a Rolex... you can have the watch after 1 year to ensure you dont flip it to a grey dealer......
seems legit

Manufacturers can’t just bump up prices to “increase the prestige of the brand.” That’s just misguided consumer-grade wishful thinking.

If Rolex increased the basic sub to $10k or more, they’d be stuck with an artificially inflated price point for their ENTIRE CATALOG of watches: $13k BLNR, $16k Daytona’s, $17k Deepseas - all stainless steel!

Coincidence, people retire at age 65 and the Sub turns age 65 in 2018 ? Stranger things have happened, VW Beatle was retired for a time. Seems unlikely but......
