Not Harry here. It is Rolex or bust it seems.

I will put this up against any of the big boys.

There's a lot of nice brands out there. Tudor has a nice lineup or you could source a vintage Datejust.

I agree too. Hold the new Grand Seiko Snowflake and tell me that’s inferior to ANYTHING.

It’s not just GS, Seiko is fantastic all-round.

Other than GS or Credor, I’ve really been looking at JLC lately as a nice alternative. Very interesting pieces and tons of history too

JLC makes some very nice dress watches for a reasonable price (reasonable is a relative term but in my mind I'm comparing to PP and ALS). For $4-$5K you should be able to get a really nice watch from a trusted seller.

What an unfortunate point of view. I wear my Nomos regularly, it’s a great piece.

Pretty hard to hate Nomos in my opinion.

Owning a rolex should never cause one to exclude other brands anyway

I don't but only because the battery is dead. I do wear a G-Shock and I have a few Citizens too.

Yeah, I should have been more specific. I was talking current Rolex. Oyster case watches are good jack of all trades options, but they’re not true dress watches.

Yeah, that wasn’t my pic. Morningtundra posted that.

I’m saying current Rolex oysters aren’t dress watches.

I know, but I thought you were referring to it when you quoted the post that featured it and said "Oyster case watches are good jack of all trades options, but they’re not true dress watches."

Yeah, he posted that to counter an earlier post I made, so I added the Oyster qualifier. I think that non-Oyster Rolex he pictured could be considered more of a dress watch.

For me, the OP 39 is too large for a dress watch. A 34-mm Date in 18K might be the perfect choice as my current dress watch is my grandfather's very thin JLC. I also like the YG Cellini Prince.

May be able to find a cool Cellini that ticks the boxes. Some of my favourite pieces are a little out of your range at 8K but every once and awhile something pops up that is very nice.

Actually, that is the one honor I hold. I've always wanted to be first at something and I think I've found my niche. I remember being told as a child to excel at something, anything, be number one and I think I've compiled a body of work on this forum that conclusively shows that it is I, not pretenders such as Megan Fox, that represent the least value to this site. I am the best at being the worst.

As long as I am here, everyone else is a distant second place. Sorry, Megan.

I'm not sure if you're kidding.

Megan has proven her knowledge and expertise many times over in my opinion and I would hope among many others as well.

This is not to say that Megan's opinions are always the most popular, but they are at least well thought out and usually right on the money.

And then there's her dry humor to spice things up a bit.

I agree; not only does she have opinions but she has a strong grasp of the available background information on the pieces she comments on. She been an excellent touchstone in many forum conversations!!! I must add that I've never noticed a post by harryrichthomas before and his above comment regarding Megan wasn't a particularly good jumping off one imho (not was his prior comment on the Seiko line).
