Icon4 Even if olives say 'pitted', doesn't mean they are.

That's all I have to say.

Yep, been caught by that one.
(consumer of large quantities of black Olives)
Fortunately no dental attention required.

Excellent observation and warning CJ.

During the mechanized processing of olives, a sizable number of them are going to slip past the pitting device.

An unsuspected pit = a possible cracked tooth + root canal & crown

Happened at dinner tonight.

Kept my cool.

I usually know better than to chomp like they're popcorn (another culprit) but they were tasty Kalamata.

Nothing major. Was a very small piece of a pit.

Should be fine, but my wife knew right away what had happened.

That's why it's better to eat olives with pits. That way you are cautiously biting to remove the pit. Good thing it wasn't a major problem.

I hate when that happens, although I rarely eat pitted olives, they always seem to have less flavor than their non pitted counterparts.

Doesn’t it say on the can that they may have pits?

Can?

Glass jar.

We're classy.

But yes, it did say that, after I sought my enemy's label.

i prefer un pitted olives myself. Only for the fact that you know what you are getting into in advance. Pitted ones there is always one they missed and its a nasty surprise.

That's awful. Any more, I cut mine in half before eating them or cooking with them. I have a fear of biting into one with a pit.

really surprised at how many people don't like olives. they're a staple in my diet. nothing like Olives, Tomato, Feta and some sliced cucumber with Greek dressing and some French bread to dip

Some folks detest mushrooms as well. Two less items to put on a pizza.

I had a 100 pizza menu.

See how many with olives or Pepperoni you can find.

Some people don't like little salty fishes on their pizza either.
