Icon14 George Clooney

Apple news app had an article about George Clooney that reflected his generosity and consideration. Recently on a plane trip, he distributed to all the passengers noise canceling earphones with a note apologizing for the fact that he brought his twins with him and his wife. He noted the twins occasionally cry. The same article quoting a friend of his who said that in 2013 he gathered his 14 best friends for dinner. He gave them a suitcase. Then he proceeded to tell them how indebted to them he was. That when he came to LA they were there for him and if it were not for them he wouldn’t be in the position he is in today. When they opened the suitcase there was $1 million in $20 bills. He even paid the taxes for that year for each of the recipients. Now that’s what I call gratitude and a class act.

Clooney is a class act. Parents traveling with infants shouldn't feel obligated to apologize for their crying, it's only natural. But as he had the means to take care of the passengers in some way, I have to say that is a very gracious gesture.

I have to say I’m not incredibly surprised if this were to be the case. Most times i’ve seen interviews with him for the most part he says rather gracious and somewhat humble about what good luck he’s been blessed with.

The money story seems a little far fetched to me.

I’m calling

He does seem like a genuinely nice guy though. Plus, he’s into motorcycles so he’s cool in my book.

Agreed. Clooney seems like a nice guy and I enjoy his work, but both of these stories seem like BS to me, especially the money story.

Nice gesture . . . . . . but the cynic in me has me thinking the riff-raff back in coach went without.

A couple years back my wife and I were out for dinner for her birthday. As we were leaving the restaurant George just happened to be walking [with a couple friends] directly in front of us. Without thought I belted out [but not too loud] "hey, Georgie!" He looked at me, then quickly shifted attention to my wife, and said 'hi, how are ya'?"

My wife still says it's the best birthday present I ever gave her.

I’m not hugely into his films in general but he was awesome in From Dusk ‘Til Dawn.

Not sure if true, but if it is thats pretty cool of him.

Just wish he didn't play "George clooney" in every movie he is in.

There seems to be a lot of corroboration of the suitcase story, unless it's just a bunch of articles quoted the same erroneous article, which has happened more than a few times.

https://www.google.com/search?client...w=1120&bih=571

Clooney's not my favorite actor, but I've only seen him in about one movie that I can recall, so I'll just say that giving away 14 million dollars in cash is a very generous thing to do.
It pays to be pals with George Clooney… literally.

The A-list movie star's best friend Rande Gerber revealed on a recent episode of MSNBC's Headliners that back in 2013, George not only paid 14 of his closest friends' taxes for the year, he gave them $1 million each. One. Million. Dollars.

As Gerber recalled, "There's a group of guys that we call ‘The Boys.' George had called me and ‘The Boys' and said, ‘Hey, mark September 27, 2013 on your calendar. Everyone's going to come to my house for dinner."

When George's dinner guests arrived they found black suitcases at each of their spots around a table, and the Suburbicon director shared a special message to the men who helped him early in his career.

Rande (who is married to Cindy Crawford and is a part-owner of Clooney's Casamigos Tequila company) explained, "George begins to say, 'Listen, I want you guys to know how much you've meant to me and how much you mean to me in my life. I came to L.A., I slept on your couch. I'm so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn't be where I am today without all of you.'"

"'So,'" Rande said Clooney shared, "'it was really important to me that while we're still all here together, that I give back. So I want you all to open your suitcases.'"

Inside was $1 million in $20 bills. As Gerber remembered it, "Every one of us—14 of us—got a million dollars. Every single one of us. We're in shock. Like, what is this? He goes, 'I know we've all been through some hard times, some of you are still going through it. You don't have to worry about your kids, you don't have to worry about, you know, school, you don't have to worry about paying your mortgage.'"

"One was working at a bar in Texas at the airport, trying just to support his family," he added. "Rides a bicycle to work every day. I mean these are guys that took care of George and now he's giving it all back. And George said, ‘Not only that, I have paid everyone's taxes so this million dollars is yours.'"

Theses stories reflect Generosity, Humility and Loyalty all strong personality traits. Good on him. As far as the larger financial gifts that is relative to ones personal finances. I'm rather sure he has the ability to gift whatever he would like.

He also wasn't so nice to Charlton Heston when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
