My Rolex 1655
Just wanted to share some pics of my only vintage Rolex (for now!).
Also looking for some recommendations on where you guys get your Vintage Rolex serviced. Is Bob Ridley the way to go? I'd just like to get a basic movement service done on this guy. Thanks in advance! And one with what I am wearing today! |

Gorgeous!
Is the GMT hand yellow or orange? It looks yellow to me, but I don't know if it is, it's a colour issue with the images or it's a patina thing. Curious because I've never seen the GMT hand photograph the same way twice and have never physically seen one of these to know what it should be. |

Funny you should ask. I just got my 1655 back from Bob, and highly reccomend him. He has worked on three of my watches to date.

Great looking 1655.....
Bob is a great option for service. He did a wonderful job on two of my vintage pieces. |

Can some of Bob's customers give me sense of how much a service would run? I'm trying to convince my Dad to send his late 80's GMT to Bob for a full service (I don't think it's ever had one!) but he wants a ballpark estimate before he sends the watch to Bob for a formal estimate. Thanks in advance.

It looks excellent.
Has it already had replacement hands fitted?

Very nice looking piece.
It's worth sending it to the right person to get it done right

That is one beautiful watch, I would say it's my holy grail watch but when the chances of me getting my hands on one are so small I try not to kid myself.

Steve, a point to consider as well with a reference of this type and servicing is to get someone well known and respected in the community to service the watch.
Bob carries that respect in spades. You may never sell the watch, but with a reference like the 1655 monies spent to do it right and have the "comfort" associated with a person of Bob's statue can be well worth it. |
