Oysterdate Concentric Silver Dial + I'm new! Hi!

To the Connoisseurs of Chronographs and Ambassadors of Submariners,

I need a little help I had recently stumbled upon my late Dad’s old oysterdate, when my mom told me she found it in her purse I nearly did a back flip and got it fixed asap.

I love the watch but want a more modern look. I wanted to know if a concentric dial would fit. I think the dial is 34mm

I am going to try and post a picture, no guarantees on how that will turn out.

Thanks,

Chris

Clean and timeless!
I like it.
Usually I am only into Vintage Sports pieces
but that is classy!

It is your fathers watch, do not mess with it!
Long term you will be upset, this is not your watch
it is your childs and you are just holding it....

Like a Patek... You never own it, you are just holding it
for the next generation.

Wear it, love it and respect it.... Put aside some funds a tiny
bit at a time till you can buy another watch which you will pass
on to your other child or (2 to the only 1 child I guess who knows)

I own two watches my father purchased new (only nice watches he ever owned)
I cherish these watches! They are not watches I would EVER have bought myself
but they are watches I wear for very special occasions only and even though they have
a high value and I could buy something I would find more appealing I would NEVER
sell these watches!!

I agree. That's a nice looking watch as-is so please don't mess with it! You can purchase another Datejust fairly cheap....one with a gold bezel or coloured dial and then you'll have two Rolexes!

Hi Chris. That is a nice classic piece and i personally would leave i as is.

The newer concentric dials found in the newer 34mm date models won't fit, as they are for a different movement and have different feet positions, etc.

Congrats and enjoy.

I messed with one of my grandfathers watches and I really regret it. Keep it like it is, it looks classy.

I fully agree with the rest, I would never touch such a perfect icon of beauty classic. If you were asked to describe what a Rolex is, just show them a 6694. Please don´t mess it!

It was your Dad's mate.

Don't mess with it IMHO ...

BUT better to update & wear it than leave it in a drawer somewhere.

But it definitely does not need to be "updated" to be worn and enjoyed.

Just buy another watch if you want to!

I too really mucked up my grandfather's Oysterdate when it got serviced. Rolex does not stock vintage parts...this was done over ten years ago. They won't work on older watches anymore. Regardless, they replace the dagger hands with stick hands and refinished the dial...left swirls in the finish. Leave it alone.

Nice watch, leave it original if it belonged to your Dad.

What a simple, elegant dress watch, I love it! Don't trade it away! That look never goes out of style.
