Big Watch Love

Here are a few grab shots using one incandescent bulb last night in the family room...

The name says it all

I actually prefer the solid caseback over the display back

Love that dial

The sandwich is beautiful, but theres something about the painted dials

Delicious!

Finally, the ubiquitous wrist shot

Much better.

Now I can appreciate that beauty.

Great watch, nice pics, Johnny....you must do something about that lighting. Are you using 'macro' mode?

Yes I put it on manual and macro mode. I don't like point and shoot cameras. They're just not precise enough for me so because of that, that's about as good as you'll get from me.

I'll take better ones when I have decent natural light.

Good....now that you've got the camera in "macro" mode, select SCENE on the selector knob (if you have that) and then CLOSE UP on the MENU. Lock CLOSE UP in and you will get much better pics. Try it and let's see the results, pal.

Good luck!!

Coming from a guy with a Luminor with a Sammy dial, I am a huge fan of the painted dials on the Luminors. They just look so right.

Thanks, Walnuts... I'm sure there's one with your name on it somewhere down the line. It would look great on a big EYE-TYE like you.

I understand why sellers obscure the number of the watch, but why did you do it?

And how about some outdoor shots? Please? Pretty please?

Actually it is easier to get good pics with a point and shoot.
honestly, about all you have to do is make sure that you set your white balance to match the light source.

Looks to me like you were using tungsten lights with the camera in fluorescent or outdoor mode. (hence the red tint on your pics)
If you change your white balance to Tungsten, most if not all that red will be gone.

photoshop can remove SOME of the red, but not all.

Thanks Chip. You're right on each point. I've only used the digital camera for grab shots of my daughter. Sixteen years ago I made my living as a news photographer/journalist... but that was with old Nikon F4 dinosaurs (although, great camera!). I started playing around with the digital on manual, and will post some pix when I download them.
