Advice on buying a Rolex Chronograph from the 40's?

I'd love to add a vintage chronograph from the 40's-50's as a daily. Would it be serviceable at a RSC?
Are there any resources I should read to become more knowledgeable? What is the market trend been in this segment? I'm not sure where I should start.

you have probably picked the most difficult and faked area.

These watches are often not real witj movements and parts from other watches

Dials are often repainted

be careful

Buy from a reputable collector or dealer whom you trsut and have dealt with before

Ask lots of questions and post some pics here before committing

As regards servicing , my understanding is that these are not difficult to service but Rolex will not touch them

If you ever acquired a real one send to a professional like Philip Ridley and stay away from RSC.....far away

The market trend is on the rise, currently few example available on the market...
Very difficult to find specimens in excellent condition, you need to be very patient to find one all original with a nice dial .
The dial makes 80% of the value of the watch.

One of Mine ;)

In my experience Rolex won't service them. I had to send mine to 3 different watch makers to find someone willing to work on it. I will let you know when I get it back how it turns out.
