It’ll easily go for seven figures, not including the decimal

I hope some philanthropist steps up and sets a record, considering the money is donated to a good cause

I agree, it has very little to do with the value of a 50 year old gold day date. This is a watch gifted to Jack early in his career and seen in almost every post-round photo after his many championships. It helps that it's a nicer Rolex but it's mostly about the history of this particular watch.

$2.3755 million, not including buyer's premium.

While Jack seems to be a great guy, and it's for charity, and he's been seen with it a ton, that's a lot different than being the "Paul Newman Daytona" that turned a watch from being a tough sell to a hard-to-get classic for years and years. As much as I like both guys, I just never hear anyone describe their watch as a "Jack Nicklaus Day-Date." That's my opinion as to why, even with hedge fund billionaires potentially bidding, I don't see this getting anywhere near the PNPN record.

Blown away by the estimates under $1mil. This is Jack Nicklaus!

I estimate $3.25mil.

Jackie Kennedy’s Cartier Tank went for $395,000. So maybe I’ll up my estimate from $245K to $397,000.

1.5M seems like a fair guess but if its billed as a charity auction that can easily be tripled due to being a donation and thus being a tax write off.

It's an interesting point. The payment is deductible only to the extent it exceeds the fair market value of the item. But how do you establish the fair market value of a unique item except by a sale? The IRS says an auctioneer's good faith pre-sale estimate might serve as a basis, but Phillips' estimate of $100,000-200,000 seems laughably low.

https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-pr...arity-auctions

Btw, my guess is that it'll go for around $2 million, not counting the buyer's premium.

2.5 million is my guess. Who knows, maybe Tiger will buy it and wear it when he breaks Jack's record.

If it goes for under a million I will post a wrist shot of me wearing it...

It will not happen.

We are all guessing and in 5-10 hours we'll know how right or wrong we were. My only comment is that I agree it isn't a more significant reference than the Newman Daytona but it has a more complete, lengthy, documented and defining history. It wasn't just a watch Jack once owned. It's his first and more or less only watch for decades.

CHANGING my answer as 100% of the Auction proceeds from Jack's Rolex Day-Date will be donated to the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation at The Bear's Club in Florida.

So i guess $250k.

I registered and watched live on my phone using the Phillips app. No cost...you just have to make sure you don't accidentally swipe right and buy a watch.

OK good job...I can’t claim an exact match like that - I said it would make it to 7 figures.
