5968A vs 5167A

Hey all, if I already have a 5968A now, would it make sense to add another 5167A for daily wear or would you just go with the 5968A on black strap for daily (Not orange as it is too bright for a daily wear).

If not to add the 5167A, what would you add for daily?

Appreciate everyone’s thoughts on this matter.

Omega Speedmaster, Explorer 1, Oyster Perpetual, Seiko 5, G-Shock - those are your dailies.

You can daily a 5167 if you name is Sir Paul McCartney.

Jokes aside, you really can’t daily a 5968. Even if you put it on the black strap, it’s not the most understated watch out there. You are going to get glances intermittently, and if you are doing some hands on work, good luck in not losing your watch when you have to take it off.

I'd just wear it on the black strap. To me there wouldn't be that much of a difference between the 5167A and your 5968A if both are on black straps. The 5968A is of course a little bigger and has the chronograph, but it is still an Aquanaut. To me they're both fantastic everyday watches.

Id say you could add a 5167A as a daily. Why not?

The 5968 is a pretty chunky watch where as the 5167 is much more svelte.

If you can wear the 5968 comfortably, then u don't need the 5167. For me, my wrist is small, and the 5167 is much more friendly and light. The 5968 is way too big for me.

Have you thought about the 5164A as a daily watch? Perfect size imho and with a useful complication…

Yes I used to own one, I do agree the proportions and size on the 5164A are the best. But I had to let it go due to the pushers getting accidentally pushed all the time and displaying the incorrect time quite often.

Does the 5968A draw that much more attention than the 5167A though? I would love both but I’m trying to justify why I need 2 aquanauts that look similar other than the thickness and the size.

But does the chukiness justify spending another amount of money for a 5167A?

I can wear it comfortably but was trying to get opinions as to whether another 5167 is needed as a daily as the 5968 might be too big/flashy for some

Yes it does. It’s bigger on the wrist compared to the 5167 which if you are sitting next to someone will definitely raise their curiosity/interest. Also it has orange details compared to the 5167.

You can have both 5167 and 5968, but the excuse of using them as a daily because they are less conspicuous just don’t work anymore nowadays due to the exposure of Aquanaut to the masses on social media.

I wear a 5167/1a as a daily. I hike with it in the mountains. I'm too old to worry about scratches affecting sales value.
I also wear a VC Overseas Chronograph and, occasionally, a Rolex Sea Dweller (16600).

I mean that's almost like saying would another Ferrari or Porsche be a better daily driver..

Sure, personally I would prefer to daily a 5167 compared to 5968 as it is more fly under the radar

I own 5167A and 5968G Blue. I wear the 5167 more often and primarily as a go to watch during the week. 5968 is more on weekend days and activities. Definitely different enough to own both

5167A is the absolute pinnacle for daily watches. It literally does everything. People say the Submariner goes from the boardroom to the beach but honestly the 5167 does it better. It blends in the board room far better than most sport watches but retains an impressive 120m water resistance, which is 20 more than a "explorer" watch has. It can easily coexist with a 5968A.

Out of interest did you let go of your 5164-R?

I would opt for a 5167R so you have a beautiful watch that is very versatile and thinner than yours.

+1 for a 5167R

I have a 5167R, 5164A and a 5968G blue dial, I love the combo
