Photo of the back of the 5976 from watchesbysjx. Yes the movement is a bit too small, but the way the caseback is constructed I think it looks OK.

Looks a lot better than the 5524, which also has a movement too small for the case! Although I still love the 5524 despite that. (Photo from ablogtowatch).

Gotta say they moving fast. UK allocations closed Thursday and here is the communication "unfortunately Patek were unable to secure a 5711P for you but have offered a 5976G. I know you were not keen but thought I should just check" .....I think I will pass onto a more worthy candidate...

Don't like these smaller movements in the cases, but guess that's the way it is on some of these watches. Never liked when AP did it with 15400. |

I think movement size versus case is for the true WIS....I never even noticed it and in particular with the 5524. Considering all the apparent QC issues I am much happier with a proven movement versus one newly developed. lastly the extra case gives it a nice additional weight....

That is nice and so not having a caseback with the dial text is understandable, but on the basic 5711 a caseback with the 40th engraving would have been the way to go.

Plenty of space to engrave on the case back. Could have even spent the odd franc and frosted the movement but I don't like a closed back.

@ Neil – Plenty of space on the case back to laser engrave the dial embossed text...if they didn’t want to change the look of the rotor.
@Karl – Snap! You mind reader... |

I prefer a see through case back as well. That is the one thing I did not love about the 175th Anniversary collection. That, however, did not stop me from wanting one.
I agree, the 40th wording should have been engraved on the sapphire back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sure, that would be ideal but as they seem intent on making a big deal out of announcing the 40th on it I was offering a compromise.
