No more warranty card retention ...
Just had it confirmed from my WOS group AD that they are no longer retaining warranty cards, and that any retained cards can be collected at any time.
He mentioned that an independent jeweller has lost a court case, hence the change in policy ...

I picked up a DJ41 from a Mappin and Webb last month and received both Rolex international warranty card plus M&W extended warranty card which starts when Rolex one expires so have 10yr warranty. They did say the M&W was non transferable....

So someone sued a jeweller for trying to do the same? I'm glad they aren't doing this anymore.
I've always said there's a logistical problem attached with this. Imagine 3000 warranty cards that needs to be FedEX'd every year, or someone needs to call up the client to tell them they can now collect their own property. Also each warranty card has its own "expiry" date to it. It was never going to work. They tried to think they could get brownie points with Rolex's suggestion of retaining a WC. Lo' and behold you would see photocopy scans at watch-trade fairs instead and they were still selling for the same as watches WITH a warranty card. In summary: Rolex failed YET again to try to curb a FREE market. |

They get less price for their flipped watches without the cards, and it would have eventually worked better if it was given enough time to work. Very disappointed this stopped.

WOS check your local before selling a hard to get watch, they will generally know you. So they simply put them away somewhere, and allow customer to collect it in 12 months time. Maybe not a massive logistical challenge, if it suppressed flipping in any small way so people who want watches actually get them, I don’t see the issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have to agree never had any warranty kept by any AD in UK or many other parts of the world.
