I can't lie, I don't usually go for the pyramid bezel and bracelet, but that combination right there looks really good and clean. Nice watch!!!

Didn't care for it, until I saw it live. It's truly otherwordly, like a vintage version of an already vintage watch.

Would buy one, but I've made my piece knowing I won't fine a good specimen in my lifetime.

Black and gold are a killer combination. I would love a WG OQ (due to their rarity mostly), but with the exception of the blue computer dial above I have seen mostly quite plain ones. I love OQ (and many other quartz watches) overall, so just my $.02.

I found mine in Europe (Germany) with b+p on c24 and have seen a couple of nice specimen in other European countries. I think the gold dial with pyramid indexes works well too, but I wanted to have a bit of contrast.

Hi dear friends I remember some of us where curious about the size of the dial of the automatic datejust and the Rolex OysterQuartz although I am not a watchmaker I took some time to mesure both they look almost like the same and the here are the results
The Dial of the OysterQuartz is 28.58 of diameter eZy Watermark_12-07-2020_11-59-11p.m..jpg
And in the Regular Rolex Datejust the diameter of the dial is 27.90 of diameter
eZy Watermark_13-07-2020_12-01-10a.m..jpg
eZy Watermark_13-07-2020_12-02-10a.m..jpg

So both dial fit really well in both movements.
BUT the Automatic case is thiner or end in kind of a cone so it won’t fit with an oyaterquartz dial.
But I was able to put the 5035 Rolex Quartz Movement with the Automatic DateJust dial but as the automatic DateJust it’s a little bit smaller than the quartz dial there it’s a small space between the dial and the case of the watch.
So to me as a Purist Horology lover and would not put an Rolex DateJust dial in a Rolex OQ no way. As I am not a watchmaker at all I am just a regular guy who over the years have bought a lot of watchmaker tools do this a hobby to my family and as a little business in my horology community. As always send you my regards and Blessings to everyone in the world of horology and their families.

Yes mine is a black dial. The blue dial is beautiful and I think it will be the top-collector piece in the future.

I love the strap on the oysterquartz. I'm sure it's been said/asked before but why don't they offer this anymore. Also, it is very similar to an AP bracelet. Who copied off who?

Some cool pics in this thread.

It wasn't a big seller during its time. Im not sure who copied who, but Rolex had the King Midas around 1970, and the Gerald Genta Designed Texano (5100) in 1971. The OQs, and the 1530/1630s that preceeded it, are sort of an evolution of those designs.

If Rolex re-made these in 39mm/40mm with the modern 3235 it would be a winner forsure.

Thank you, i've looked into this in the past and it's hard to pin down it's exact linage.

I guess if they reintroduced the more iconic oysterquartz bracelet it would now be considered a direct rip off of the AP RO anyway. Looking back, it does appear it was taken from the RO back then too (albeit the Texan came first). I wonder if the design is now patented by AP?

That being said, i'm surprised the Genta designed Texan bracelet isn't used in modern Rolex pieces? I remember reading somewhere that Genta preferred to design the bracelet over the watches themselves. It's like a rabbit hole.

Great looking watches and bracelets nevertheless.

Without any doubt chocopeluche;
If Rolex re made in 36 39 40 41 42 that 17014 and 17013 case and bracelet would not only be a winner but also would put AP RO and PP Nautiluis out of business for sure.
Blessings

It would be special if there was a new Oysterquartz designed Rolex. In reality I think they wont make another Quartz watch & this design being re-introduced is very unlikely!

These reasons are why all the owners in the world LOVE the Oysterquartz!!!

Yes it’s a brand new bracelet so yes it’s an 3M Helicopter Film so it won’t damage.
I mean I have the other bracelet the old one almost new but no new one as I found the watch used I am the second owner. This one is one of the very lasts ones it’s K serial if you realize this one uses luminova it just says SWISS MADE. The others are older. The others one as are old one says T SWISS T and the other one says T SWISS MADE T.
T stands for TRITIUM in case some one does not know.
Blessings

Curious, where did you get the new bracelet ??

VV Cool that you have luminova, all mine are T SWISS MADE T and have zero lume left :(

Part of me wants to send one of them in for a dial swap to RSC but im worried that they will inadvertently polish...

Give the RSC Dallas a call. I inquired about links and a dial swap and they gave me pricing. All very reasonable IMO.

I bought the bracelet in Germany and they sold it for almost $2 K.
This one of very last OQ it’s K serial.
Right now Tudor Royal it’s coming in different sizes for men and women and kind a look like the OQ but instead of using their own caliber or at lest some old Rolex Caliber like 3135 or similar they are using a ETA. I just don’t get the point

That's hefty for a bracelet, I didn't think they went for that much. Was this from an RSC or private?

Private seller from Chrono24.
I would love to know the real cost at Rolex Service Center.
