I have seen fake aftermarket Stella and Onyx dials in the past.

Anytime a generic 10K watch becomes a 30K, 40K, 50K watch with just a dial swap I think it becomes an inevitable temptation to fake.

Same goes for stupid stuff like those "Blueberry" inserts on GMTs. Amazing how they all came from basically the same dealer and there are no photos of any of them prior to whatever year... maybe 2000.

15500 went for 30.5k. Watch only. LOL where are all the people saying that we’ve hit a bottom?

It is going to get worse. Tell me one reason why the global economy, let alone the watch market, will pick back up anytime soon?

Wow AP market seems like it’s getting hit harder. What’s MSRP on a 15500?

Doubt it will make much changes to the current market direction. China’s economy isn’t all rosy now. Real estate facing problems too. No “sure win” properties anymore

Biggest price points for the 420 is the multiple 36k sells (and the one sitting for $36k right now on this very forum). That’s already wholly under retail, can’t see it seeping much more than that in the near future.

Haven’t seen a 240 listed lately

another factor here being overlooked is these are the prices for the ONE YEAR limited edition 50th models (when discussing 15510 and 26240). when the regular one's start being produced, there's absolutely zero reason why they will hold the same value as the 50th. so expect an even further drop then.

I would not be surprised whatsoever if by Summer '23 RO and ROC are MSRP + tax on grey.

26240 sold for 58k recently on Moda. That’s down from 140k in the spring.

could you imagine buying one of those in the summer for a 'steal dip price' of $100k for them to now bring what they are? Sorry just have no remorse for them.

Anyone having moda pricing for platinum president 228206 with glacier blue dial with blue Roman numerals? I am adjusting my insurance replacement values accordingly with quasi wholesale pricing.

Same here... Bit sad tbh as it was a nice feeling to make a semi-wise decision on dumping tens of $ks on a completely unnecessary object.

That said - it is amazing how it went fron 120k for the 26240s to now 58k!!! That's still 20k over retail but a whole different ballgame . Can't imagine having a paper loss of 50k on such a trinket

Surprising that people see it this way. Try to sell your wife's tennis bracelet, your used car, a 3 year old Kelly or Birkin….

There are exceptions in each of those categories, just like there has historically been in watches. For the most part, however, a big depreciation hit is what you should expect. Especially people buying at the peak of a very obvious hype bubble.

Buy watches to wear and enjoy, and it won’t matter.

That only happens when you think of it as an investment. The buyer "should" look at it as a real loss the moment they trade real money for it. I do assign a value to my collection on a spreadsheet, but I have them at 50-80% of MSRP or 80% of grey market price, whichever is lower. I really only do this because I've got a bean counting gene that makes me want to keep track. At the end of the day, while I know they have value, what can I really liquidate one for right now?

On the flip side, if I was actively looking to sell/trade into another watch, then yes, I would make a more accurate assessment of what it's worth today. But as far as looking at them as "assets" on a balance sheet, there's no point in inflating them like DJT would, while trying to get a bank loan.

Yep. 22-23 for one on a jubilee is a deal I'm interested in, but only through a trusted seller. I'm confident they will get there soon enough, although if they keep dropping so rapidly, I might get greedy & hold out for 19-20.

I'm not sure it helps the seller's cause when he has 7 of them on his arm/wrist (5 oyster, 2 jubilee).

Hahahah another 15500 listed for $38 and you’ve got the clown brigade posting ‘great price!’

Also got a 15510 grey auction going, interested where that one ends

Spot on.

Been chirping for years, people new to the game have a completely insane way of thinking about watches. They’re not a means of currency, they’re not a hold of value, they’re not a blue chip stock. One should be absolutely ECSTATIC if his or her purchase even maintains MSRP after wearing.

Was thinking $60k? Was hoping to back up with data, but all good if there are none for sale on Moda.
