Which (if any) current Tudor models will be iconic/relevant in 40-50 years?

I think one of the greatest things about Rolex and what makes it so popular is the watches have evolved but still maintain an unmistakable design DNA from watches released 50 or more years ago. In one word, they are timeless.

Which (if any) current Tudor models do you think will have that kind of staying power?

One of the things that gets overlooked (imo) is that Rolex has always just been able to perfect size and dimensions. Humans have gotten a bit "larger" over the last 50-60 years, but wrist real estate hasn't changed that much. The human wrist being what it is, I think the diameter/thickness of most Rolex models really hits the sweet spot for a lot of people and has contributed a lot to their staying power.

Thus I think the relative thickness and size of some of the current popular Tudor models will prevent them from becoming long-term classics, unless they are sized down a bit.

OTOH, the "39" models - BB and Pelagos may have staying power and be considered classics decades from now.

The model with the first in house gets my vote. The North Flag.

I’ve got the LHD, absolutely love it and I think it will go down as a classic too.

Well in 1972 people were buying quartz digital watches.

Who knows what will happen in the next fifty years

Probably none of them as the majority are just high quality homage pieces.

I really like some of the Tudor models don’t get md wrong but I can’t see many becoming iconic or massively valuable over the years.

If I were betting.

But it’ll likely only be inflationary adjustments as there’s so many other variants and options.

Probably none. To be iconic a watch needs to be recognizable to the average person, usually for some achievement or role played in history. There are lots of great Tudors that watch enthusiasts appreciate, but they're nowhere near being iconic, and I will likely never be.

On the basis that Harrods will still be around, possibly the Harrods edition.

What a great thread!

I would say FXD
BB58 harrods version
Possibly the gold bb58 I say this one because several AD’s have this one in stock for less than retail same with the grey it’s always the dogs that no one wants today that become desired later. It’s a beautiful piece with the green dial

Not sure, but if I was a betting man I'd pick the P01.

Doesn't matter to me cause I'm having too much fun enjoying them now.

The 18k BB58 is a model you probably won’t see around indeed, wish they do it on WG as prefer stealth wealth

Quite true.

Let’s be realistic folks, in the last five years has there been a more overused, diluted word in the lexicon than ‘iconic’ ??

Exactly. I have two pocket watches and an ebony cane that I inherited from my early 20th century great-grandparents, but I’m really not interested in a night on the town dressed as Mr. Peanut.

It’s hard to tell. At the current rate of how fast the Apple Watch surpassed the entire Swiss watch industry, maybe none. As the prices go up, these watches get more and more out of reach and less and less relevant. The smart watch and computer industry has weaponized dopamine to get people to think the need to be plugged in all the time. My prediction is that there Will be fewer and fewer of us old school folks around wearing these. 40 years in the future that generation will have never seen an era that was not plugged in just about 95 percent of the time. The ever increasing prices mean they are less available to the masses.

It should also be pointed out that these watches were tools and had/have a grounding in tools that did a job, that meaning has been getting more and more obscured by internet hype and hysteria. I think a prediction could be one of the black bay watches or perhaps 40 years from now, what’s tudor?
