THC Back From RSC After Some TLC

So happy to get this classic back. A long way 'round the barn as I took this to my watchmaker [w/ Rolex parts account] at the end of Feb. My watchmaker is really swamped plus there was a miscommunication w/ RSC that added to the delay.

Many claim the Black Bay is responsible for the brand's return from oblivion, but it was in fact the Tudor Heritage Chronograph that shook the entire watch community with it's release at BaselWorld 2010. And I knew I had to have one. Historic Tudor vintage design, modern proportions, highly detailed, multifaceted easy to read dial, rotating bezel, and 45m chronograph. One year later it was on my wrist.

It looks brand new, per the optional polish. The addition of the cyclops w/ happen next week, as a nod to the original. My eyes could use the help and there's plenty of real-estate on the flat sapphire at 6:00.

Looking for another 10 years of service.

Not a chrono expert, but you mentioned the 45m sub register. What is the advantage of 45m over 60m?

Pretty sure it was RSC Dallas, but will get that confirmed when I go back next week to pickup a vintage Seiko chronograph they are working on.

Beats the hell out of me. My guess is it has something to do with racing. I'd prefer 60 minute but not a big deal, just part of it's vintage heritage.

Cool watch. I didn't know Tudor made a Chronograph with a GMT bezel. That is very functional.

My favorite chronograph from the Wilsdorf family of watches! I always smile when I used to see you post this watch on the daily WRUW thread back in the day.

I know you love the ETA + Tudor Chronograph module combo but I look forward to see Tudor utilize this model to premier a non Breitling in house chronograph movement.

It would make sense seeing as Tudor is using their subsidiary Kenissi to supply the rest of the Swiss watch industry with a high quality alternative to ETA/Selita/etc

Looks great Dan. I assume the RSC insisted on a new crystal to return to original, rather than just removing the added cyclops?

Good enough for Ethan Hunt, good enough for me. This is a great watch, where Tudor made their own way, no big brother, no faux patina, just a solid original design well executed.

Thanks for the update and cool photos, Dan. It's truly an all-around fantastic piece, being equal parts handsome, rugged, and robust with a great build quality. I was lucky to find one from a seller here on TRF back around 2013. I've been exceptionally happy with it ever since. Hope you enjoy your refreshed watch to the fullest.

Who manufactures the current movement and is this movement considered a negative?

Great photos of a great watch. I especially like the one with the crown and pushers up, showing how nice the case is. Beautiful.

While not a true GMT, the 12 rotating bezel is a very intuitive use of a 2nd time zone. I also use it daily as a simple timer.

Actually my favorite movement is the Valjoux 7750. The THC has a ETA 2892 with a Dubois-Depraz module. The base movements are beefed up to accept the chrono module. These are harder to service, due to specialized tools required, and many times replaced vs repaired. While I prefer an integrated chronograph movement it's proven to be a workhorse. Running + 2 sec per day

Agreed! I'm a sucker to 2 tone sub dials and this remains one of the easiest chronograph dials to read at a glance, thanks to the original Tudor style handset.

Yes, per RSC rules, the crystal was the 1st on the list for replacement. After over a decade of use there were plenty of tiny chips around the edge anyway.

Rolex Service Center did the work, my watchmaker just facilitated the transaction.

Next week! I was an early adopter of adding the cyclops to the THC. It works great on the flat crystal and fits well the vintage aesthetic.
