Incoming: Grand Seiko SBGA405 Godzilla 65th Anniversary Limited Edition
I just picked up the LE Grand Seiko Godzilla. I really like the watch and own the green dial LE Lion, so I am familiar with the case. The Godzilla is on a strap as opposed to a bracelet, like the Lion, but they does appear that my Godzilla can use the bracelet. I will not repeat the technical data as we all have the internet and can look it up. The watch is much better in person than the pictures and wears great. I look forward to ownership and wearing the watch.

I'm finding it a real challenge taking a proper photo of this watch in natural light! The surfaces are so reflective!
It wears much smaller than I anticipated. Plus, it's surprisingly light given it's dimensions. The leather strap will take some breaking in. My AD received two Zilla's and they're both spoken for. Seiko's advertising campaign did not do this watch justice. This is a serious timepiece, however it appeared to be marketed as a cartoon. Perhaps it's a cultural thing? |

Congratulations!! - I love this one - also love the Lion - the case is so muscular ! My AD is still waiting on their promised Lion, and waiting to see if they will get a Godzilla ...
I honestly don't know which I'd choose if they got both... I also love that it is a sports watch for a sport that doesn't exist... what is the point of a not rotating bezel with minute indicators? The fact that no one seems to ask that question makes me wonder if its conscious self-parody

Congrats! I had a look at one in Wako last week - such a special watch, and as you say, the pictures dont do it justice. What the pics really dont show is how much the strap, its texture, colour and the red edges contribute to the overall "Godzillaness" of the piece. Its one big dollop of 100% pure Japanese culture condensed into watch form.
I've blown my watch budget twice over this year - otherwise I would have taken the plunge in a heartbeat. |

I just saw one of these in person, is this a great score for retail at this point?

Wait a few more months and retail will be a given because stock will be low and most are sold. And in a few years they'll sell over retail is my believe. Just like SLA017. I just bought a 200pcs limited edition GS at retail because I discovered it too late. I saw some facebook for sale posts from last spring with prices much lower than what I paid (around $700 less). Did my very best to negotiate a discount but seller told me politely to accept or walk. In the end the watch was worth more to me than the discount. Happy.
