Might be your ISP (internet provider). Mine does that fairly often. I should switch to a different one.

Sort of. I use Fire Fox and about 20% of the time a page will not load and I get the error. But it's not a true "Boot off" such as a dropped connection. I just hit the back button and try it again. I have also noticed some of the Forum pages loading a bit slower than before. But it happens 20% of the time or less and I am on dial-up which is slow to begin with.

It's probably just the TRF getting updated. This can makes things slow. Be patient.

Sorry everyone....I wasn't mad or anything, I just thought something was wrong.....I was bored last night and found one of the original threads from years ago that apparently stated there were people hijacking the threads and had some security issues......again, just me being paranoid!

TRF has been timing out frquently for me too.

Maybe Lol-x can comment, but I think that server traffic has increased incredibly in the last year.

Guys, I am looking into the issue. Since TRF is on my server, I thought I would at least speak up. A couple of modules are to blame so far, nothing to do with this site (TRF) specifically, these modules are being examined and reinstalled. All should be better soon. I will keep this updated as things progress

I'd say law of probability

Thanks Scott your a legend

Guys, remember all machines require maintenance, just as your watches, so does the server, software etc. of the forum. I think that the performance of the forum has been 99.9% over the last 12 months and Scott (nikhsub1) deserves a huge congratulations and thanks from everyone for this outstanding performance and generosity to all.

You're too kind Steve Anyway, I think I've nailed the problem(s) down... Spam Assassin (filters all email for all the domains on the server for spam) has been going nuts. It has been reinstalled and so far, it is behaving much better now. Another issue was the server backups were taking anywhere from 7 hours to 23 hours to complete! This process should take no more than 2 hours a day! I'm thinking (and hoping) that the long backups were caused by Spam Assassin overusing the CPU time of the box. FWIW the backup starts at 1am PST and should normally be done by 3am PST. Even when the backup runs users should not even notice, but combine the backup with a run away CPU intensive application can cause some slowdowns etc. Anyway, will be watching closely over the next few days.

If you can, please say if things seem better, worse or the same as this would help me out. For me it seems much better.
